That is the one. I have the image now. Download that and let me know if you have any issues

I downloaded this and burnt it onto a dvd... placed the dvd in the unit and it said "check disc"... does the disc have to be burnt through a different format? I just used Nero?

No special format required.

See if you can burn it again, but burn at the slowest speed possible.

A good program to use also is imgburn.

Your car definitely uses C2 so you are on the right track

There is a .iso burning program that can be downloaded that works first time everytime. Kind of like "Sex panther".

Does it have to be on the SatNav Menu? Or any specific menu? Or should it just load automatically?

Will try again tomorrow and see

Hi all

Been awhile since I have been on here but thought I'd post how I upgraded the maps in my MY10 Liberty GT.

I use a Mac so the instructions are for Mac users but is just as easy for windows (just need different software).

Download V17 C2 from http://www.mediafire.com/?5ll5b2z65jaq9. The ISO comes in 9 parts. Download all 9 parts (files) to a folder on your computer.

Once all 9 files are downloaded double click the first file (part 1) to extract it. I use UnRAR. Windows users would need to right click and extract using a windows program. You only need to extract the first file and the extraction software will do the rest - ie. combine all 9 files together to form the original ISO file (which is a DVD or disc image file).

At the end of the process you will have an ISO file in the folder with all the RAR files. You can now delete the RAR files if you want as they are no longer needed.

Now on the Mac open Disk Utility, by going to Applications - Utilities.

Select File - Open Disc Image, browse to the location of the aforementioned ISO file and select it. Disk Utility will mount the image and it will show on the left side of Disk Utility under the list of drive.

Put a blank DVD-R in your drive, click once on the disc image and click on the Burn icon at the top of the Disk Utility window. Choose the slowest burn speed (eg. on my macbook the default speed was 8x and I changed that to 2x). The slower the burn speed the more accurate the data will be written to the disk.

For windows users you will need some type of ISO mounting/burning software. Google it! Daemon Tools Lite is my favourite windows ISO mounting software. Once the image is mounted you should be able to use windows explorer to burn the image to a DVD. The key is to burn as slow as possible to ensure accurate data writing.

Once the disc is done you are ready to install.

Now the hard part - accessing the DVD drive in the car. Look in the satnav manual (I think it was page31) to see where the DVD is located. On the audio system it is hidden behind the panel with McIntosh written on it. I found it quite difficult to get the panel off on my car and the instructions in the satnav manual for removing the panel didn't help. I ended up using an atm card and pushed it into the gap along the bottom of the panel. Then working left and right along that panel I kept gently prising the panel upwards until finally it popped out about 1 cm and I could grab it with my fingers.

Now start your car's engine and leave it running throughout this process. Turn the audio off by pressing the volume dial in. Once you have the panel off press the list eject button on the right hand side (not the main eject button on the system but one that was behind the panel). The old satnav disc will spit out - mine was V15. Now insert the new disc you have just created. When I did this on my car the screen initially said something about not recognising the disc or insert a DVD disc or something. Then after a few seconds that disappeared and it started loading the disc. All in all the process took about 2 minutes to upgrade. Leave the new disc in the drive and place the cover back over the DVD drive.

Hey presto you are now upgraded!

Ok.. so this might sound dumb... But there's a hidden DVD drive behind the Mcintosh panel that holds the satnav disc?...

I just assumed it was preloaded onto the actual system, as opposed to reading off the satnav disc!

I had no idea!!! THANK YOU for your post!!

On another point, has the cat ever been sucked into the intercooler, that'd be a great story... <--- Dog lover

Big thanks for this DL.

$300+ is a real cash grab - we get raped in Australia, i think the merchants need to understand there is a thing called the internet and, yes Australians do know how to use it. :)
My 2010 forester GPS unit kept locking up on the "Audio" screen (the one showing all the radio stations), it had the 2008 MAP/SW version on it - not sure if this will help but will give it a go and get back.

Thanks Again...

Quick update---

All good now, seems real stable.

One thing I'm disappointed with is the safety feature where you cant change things when the car is moving.
Need to find a "way around" that, i suspect its a wire that needs disconnecting.

Will post any findings back here - actually will probably find it back here if i look hard enough :-)

Perhaps running a search for a handbrake modification will help you out. ;)

Just reading through this at the same time as reading about the dial by voice problem http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=7344&start=15. Any ideas if the newer versions of the maps (either v17c2 or 18) incorporate the fix?

Hi does anyone have the ability to seed this torrent again? Would it work on an 07 forester with the kenwood satnav system? I'm currently running v12 and it is very frustrating. Thanks in advance :)
