Postby Tim_ » Mon Jun 25, 2012 7:25 pm

Got everything undone just cant get the bar out.

Have people removed headers or the wheel to get this out?

You have to undo one side of the black metal shield stuff to actually get the bar out.

Do u mean a mounting bracket? We have taken off the engine cover the cross plate the mounting brackets and now the sway bar is loose.

To take off the front swaybar you need to undo the endlinks, mounting bolts and then remove that bracing stuff that goes over the top of the middle of the sway bar.

The crossmember support plate.

I assume the prefacelift is pretty similar to the post facelift in this regard so check out the chassis section of the workshop manual here - viewtopic.php?f=12&t=4686#p185940

(the links to the prefacelift ones in that thread are old and broken)

[edit] you beat me to it.

I lower the headers to allow for more room, only takes a minute or two extra but makes it easier.

I removed the crossmember support plate. That's the sorta x shaped piece of metal with 4x 14mm (or12mm) bolts?

Yeah I was abit hesitant undoing the headers and the bolts that connect the headers were really tight.

Put the stock bar back on and installed the front lip instead but still need to install the front sway bar so am very keen to hear any other tips

yes.

undo the headers, you may need a rattle gun or breaker bar to crack them off.

should be simple from there, it can be made easier by turning the steering wheel or removing one wheel to pull the bar out that side.

I removed a wheel to do my front swaybar (as recommended by the workshop manual) - just wiggle and rotate it out (and then the new one in the same way).
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

Did you remove/loosen/touch the headers at all?

Im hoping the rear swaybar is alot simpler than the front

No I did not. I just removed the three separate plates (as illustrated in the above image), plus one wheel and rotated and wiggled the factory swaybar out sideways. No stress or force used. Just patience.

It is - very simple by comparison.

OP: you need to remove the headers on the H6s, whereas the 4cylinder boys don't need to. Different engine = different header design.

Must be part of the H6 supplement then - I can't see that mentioned anywhere in the workshop manual I have. You learn something new everyday...!
