Do swaybars make a squeaking noise ?

Hi guys,

Recently installed front and rear cusco swaybars for my GenV GT. Ive noticed that it makes a squeaking noise when going over bumps or speedbumps too quickly. Ive asked a few ppl and they all tell me different things.
Can someone tell me if this noise is normal for swaybars ?

it shouldnt if you have installed them correctly...

yes they do.
but it's the bushes rubbing on the glossy coating.
i fixed mine by sanding back the paint and using heaps of the lithium grease supplied with teh bushes

Grease the urethane bushes.

This will become a 6 monthly or so maintenance task when the grease needs redoing.

You don't need to regrease them every 6 months, just spray crc/wd40/rp7 at them when they get noisey again and it will help to moisturise the grease causing them to shutup again

When I had my WRX, I used marine grease when I installed whiteline swaybars (FRT & RR) and had no noises at all and my rex was washed weekly with a pressure washer. From memory they were regreased like 2yrs later..

I bought some Marine grade at Supercheap a few months ago.

Marine grade works pretty well - survives the rain nicely.

If you use the grease that comes supplied with the swaybars, it can last a long time, but as soon as it rains, it'll wash away. Likewise, if you do any driving on thick dusty roads, you should clean and regrease your swaybars again to prevent squeaks, or worse - binding.

Definitely +1 for sanding back the paint, though. Bush on metal slides far better.
