I don't have any problems I'm happy with my choice haha.

And nick the m7760 has been around for a few years now, however they have revised the design recently. The m7960 and m8250 are only a year or so old and are newer models. As for saving on the price by ordering at the same time, you'll have to speak to phat about that one as I dont know

One of the major reasons to buy my sti was the 6 speed. I had a warmed 2001 B4 (stroked 2.2, custom exhaust-read flow and LOUD and a haltech interceptor running *cough*20psi*cough*, thats only 10psi per turbo ) and even with these mods it chewed the 5speed box. Not the gears but the centre diff i think it was and was told that it just couldnt handle the grunt... Which really wasnt THAT much. So i bought a brand new rex in 08 when they came out and it was stock except for kings super lows. And that had bearing issues in the box within 8,000 from new, and then just spat clutches and thrust bearings and made noises and royally pissed me off.

So i was determined to get a decent bloody gear box this time and i cant tell you the satisfaction of knowing that it will handle pretty much everything i throw at it. Now im not a rev limit dumping hero either as its NEVER been done in my ownership. I can just tell you that having a gear box that isnt up to the task sits on your mind everytime you get in the car and will tarnish the enjoyment you have in the car.

Sorry to get off topic but i just thought you would loooovvvee to hear my 2 cents worth .Just get the big garrett and pull the weak as piss auto out and put a proper box in and love 24psi of boost goodness.

You make a good point Daniel. Not having to worry about something at all is infinitely better than having to spend money on something to worry about it a little less.

The above post is why I've chosen the turbo I have, because my transmission will actually be able to handle it.

Im not interested in throwing the money at my car to do a manual conversion. I would sell and buy a manual instead 100 times over before putting the time and money into doing the conversion.

And since I'm not even contemplating selling my car I'm sticking with an auto

I only went 6 speed cos I bought my car relatively cheap enough to warrant the work I've done to it - not that I'd eer make it back but I've built it to my liking and to keep for a few more years hopefully

If I was in your position I'd be able to justify doing the conversion since you got your car for so cheap and can do a lot of the work yourself, it would just be $$$ and lots of it if I were to do it!

Jaydece, is yours a stock mount with a subaru style flange or a t3 style flange? ps...FLANGE!

My internal gated GTX3071r was a straight bolt on from stock exactly the same with my Blouch 380XT, no modifying needed only the oil and coolant lines needed a bit of modifying and re routing....

There isnothing wrong with the auto... They are actually quite fun to drive when you get the hang of them... Tranny cooler and and a tough stall converter will get people wetting their pants at the lights... No need for conversions just beef up the auto tranny...

I know of the M7760 i just didn't know much abouth the M7960... Apart from the fact that the thing kicks in at about 3,800rpm on a 2.5 i like what i see... Just found one on rice net for $750.00 and i think i will be jumping on that!

Starts to boost at 3,800 rpm... Full boost is around 5,000 rpm is what the bloke said that had it on his built 2.5...

Same here... I wasn't too sure if he was being honest or not... But it was on eBay too and i was outbid... =( Oh well... I would rather wait for the Phat man so i can do it all at once... I was thinking the same thing Mick... He had it on an Impreza but it was like a 2.2 or 2.5 i couldn't remember...
