MY08 GT-b Sti Info

Postby dja » Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:32 pm

Hi Guys,

I have been searching the site for a few days, and cannot find specifically the info I am after.

I would like to know, regarding the 08lib sti wagon with 6 speed, specifically what gearbox is in it, with what front diff, and is the rear diff r180? and if so it is vlsd, torsen, plated ?

I can only find 08gtb non sti info, i dont want to run on the assumption its all the same, ass i dont want to make an ass "outta" me.

Also, if anyone knows, do these engines run factory forgies? or are they still basically the 08wrx engine? and are they dual, or quad AVCS?

Thanks heaps, and im sorry if this has been covered, im screwed if i could locate it specifically.

Dan...

Or you could take it to indicate that those things are not different in the STI version or else they would be mentioned in the brochure.

So your telling me it has r180 torsional rear, torsional front, and is just a 2.5 wrx engine with intake avcs?

tbSTi's are just GTB's with some STi gear from the factory.

Yeah, I'm no expert on the matter but I believe it to be a tune, mufflers, brakes, suspension, "aero package", rims and some other random little bits and bobs.

I think the internals, gearbox, diff are all the same as the lesser car.

I'm sure if they changed something they would have put an STI logo on it, they have on everything else! :P

No forged internals, both the GT’s and STI’s have the same bottom end.

The heads and cams on the other hands are different, which results in slightly different compression.

In what way are they different?? I thought that the only power difference was due to the tune and the mufflers??

Pretty sure the sti quads are the same muffler body as the regular gt just with different tips.

I've seen someone on the legacygt site hacking one up and comparing the internal.
The STI quads do run more generous internal pipes and chamber.
Not by a whole lot, the there is a tad more then just new tips.

Dan, Aus spec STI libs are just essentially tarted up spec B's. As mentioned above just bolt on shit plus a tune.
