So, Im going to delift the Outback to Liberty spec so I can lower it properly.

This involves, fitting a Liberty steering column and knuckle, removing all lift blocks, shorter bolts on f & r crossmembers, Liberty auto trans crossmember, Liberty control arms (have STi alloy ones ready to go), Liberty rear swaybar mounts.

I have sourced/ordered everything except the auto trans crossmember, but will find one next week. :D

I want to fit it all before the BBS rims get here.

Intriguing, I was wondering about that process, more complicated than I'd imagined!

What's the advantage of the delift Mark?

Didn't the coilovers give you the height you were after?

Basically there's "stretch" between the body and the suspension components, to maintain geometry whilst adding lift: longer column, bolts and lift blocks.
So all that and more has to come out. STi control arms to correct the roll center and probably a bunch of other stuff too :D

Exactly what Ben said.

You can drop it with the coilovers but its not ideal and throws all the geometry out badly. Plus it'll never ride as smooth as a Liberty with coilovers.

Total parts cost is about $550 inc STi arms so not an expensive exercise at all considering the benefits.

Yeah ok. So basically it will give much better ride quality, response and probably better tyre life with the liberty geometry in there.

Ps any news on how long the braided lines will be?

Did you run out of Mods Mark?

Have you taken it to a whole new level now making an Outback a Liberty!! You have way to many contacts for cheap and easy access to parts!!

Theres actually a number of people who have done the same to an Outback and provided me the info to do it properly to mine.

One thing that continually amazes me is the parts pricing from Subaru Australia.

The bolts and swaybar brackets I needed I just thought Id buy new. I found all the appropriate part numbers and priced them in the US. US$47 and US$18 shipping, i'll have them in 10 days.

I went to Docklands the next day to check. $212 for the same items!!!!!!! Most were ex Japan too with a quoted 6 week wait!!! Needless to say theyre on their way from the US. How is this justified?

Couldn't agree more... There is a lot of specs that are on the overseas cars that I wish that we got stock but seem to have to go to the next step to make up for what Subaru Australia aren't interest in or think they can score more money later on.

So where to after this is done?

The fact is these are standard Liberty parts on Aus cars also, nothing US or JDM only.

Where to next? I dont look that far ahead.

Liberty steering column, knuckle and auto trans crossmember collected today.

All other required parts purchased new from Chaplins Subaru US. Once they get here I'll have it all installed the following weekend. :D
