Bluetooth hands free car kit

Not really about car audio as such but nonetheless..

I want to buy one. Anyone use them or recommend a particular brand with all the goodies (text to talk, voice control etc) bear in mind I have an aftermarket HU so I don't think integrated is an option

I have a parrot ck3000 with its own speaker. It's simple and works. No text to speech but the higher end models probably have that.

i have a bluetooth JVC usb receiver from the head unit in my 98 RX, i dont use it anymore because the car isnt drivable... but im not sure if it would work with your head unit. You would still have to wire up a mic unless youve got one integrated in the H/U. i was able to play music on my iphone through bluetooth and ofcourse answer and make calls from the headunit (without touching the phone)

might be worth contacting some sort of audio store to see if there is a dongle for your unit

Thanks Michael. I did have the option of buying the next model up of HU with Bluetooth for calls etc but thought to myself 'when do I ever speak on the phone in the car'

Haha!! I ended up with a Supertooth HD, picked it up from JB today. Haven't used it properly yet but it has voice commands & text to talk. I can even update my Facebook status provided my iPhone stays logged in. We'll see how it goes

After playing around for a bit & paying USD $39.99 to upgrade to the 'Supertooth Assistant Pro' purely for the text to talk feature I finally found the section that says 'Text to talk only compatible with Blackberry & Android devices, once the Supertooth Handsfree Assistant app has been installed'... Fuckin grrrrrr

A 'friend' who looked after me at JB is happy to return it and find out what is most compatible with iPhone, thank god for kkkhuuunectionz bruvva!!

I have a Blueant ST3 Bluetooth hands free which was given to me as a gift and it's been great, haven't had a single problem with it. The battery once fully charged lasts a long time without turning the device off at all...Works fine with my iPhone 4 and voice commands, etc. actually quite accurate. And i have recently found out it works fine with my Android device also....

Worth looking into i think they're only about $60 nowadays..

For some reason when I'm driving I get a heap of texts so the main thing I'm after is the text to speech function & vice versa. On the one I have now it will send a text through voice recognition just fine but won't read them out for me

Unfortunately I don't I have USB input & AV in only. If I had standard stereo then yes, that one would be excellent!

Don't know much about the iPhone, but looks like they don't let BT devices read text messages (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/25 ... 0&tstart=0).

Also - looks like you can get an auto sms reader if your iphone is jailbroken.
