New member from central coast/Newcastle NSW

Hey guys,

im a long time user of these sort of sites but first time member of this particular one..
I have just bought a new MY08 sedan manual charcoal GT-B for $30,000 on road, 69500kms
my plan is like many others around is to have a good reliable car that both looks good and has the power when needed with the intention of a few exterior body & engine mods!!

so that brings me to my few questions..

1. how often do the NSW crew have meet ups?? (i had a quick browse about but couldn't really find anything)
2. where do you guys (whole of Aus) find accessories / parts for your car apart from eBay
3. and finally where do the NSW boys go to get engine mods inc installation seeing as I'm not to engine savvy


so anyway I'm looking forward to meeting up with a few of the other members.. oh and one more thing where can i get a club liberty sticker???

Welcome aboard... where in newy/central coast are you from?

1. viewtopic.php?f=36&t=16454 this is the next meet in our area. not one organised by this forum but i went last year and it was pretty good.


2. PHAT GT .. see his details in the vendors section. theres a fair few other vendors too, prospeed, ultrex etc.


3. Being central coast Based im going to suggest micheal south engineering. taking my car there next month for a tune. but theres a few other places in sydney that are ok, but from what everyone says mick does great work.

Liberty sticker... PM ric (admin) about this.

NSW has a fair few meets, and by NSW i mean Sydney. central coast boys don't have as many but enough to keep you going
if you want meets don't be afraid to set one up your self, i think you'll find people are always up for a beer 'n chat.

parts are also (besides Phat) best found by people parting out. (which seems popular at the moment

and thanks for the reference to MSR just what I'm looking for, i had a quick look on his site but i don't think I'm looking for engine mods that intense straight up so does he accommodate for less intense mods??


and what do you guys think of the XForce exhausts for the GT?? I'm looking to replace the exhaust system from the extractors down so any ideas??

PHAT usually accomodates for most/all walks of life, and anything you find in japan that you want, he will get for you.
there are some pretty good reviews on xforce, i myself have one and im pretty happy with the quality and sound from it

you'll find the sydney boys generally have a lot of small meets then every so often have a big meet with most people there

PHAT only has his vendor section on here, but from what i've been told/heard he has his own shop in western sydney now

as for extractors, have a look here, thats coyote one of the forum members who got some kando extractors, and i do believe he has had some nice power increases and sound upgrades
dump pipe? try and get your hands on a PHAT one, there are also people around here with HKS, ULTREX and i think XFORCE dump pies

and in what way restrictive do you mean?

with those few little bolt on bits, a tune from MSR should be keeping you a very happy man!

MSR does do your regular mods including tuning, no you dont need to have some hectic build.

He is also quite affordable and very helpful. though because of this and his popularity with the WRX boys, he's booked out for a while being a one man show. dont expect to get in if you want to see him before mid july i think. well he told me the 15th and i spoke to him last week. so ill be down there around then too.

As for xforce, thats who MSR recommends anyway, heard good things. My vote would be for either one of them or one of PHATs ones.

As for headers, yeah speak to coyote, or jacks_GTB who is from the central coast, he also has the equal length kando headers that are ceramic coated. he rates them highly.

thanks guys its been really helpful as i only know of one company who do mods and i dare speak of their name MRT PERFORMANCE


from what you guys have said on here that is more then enough for me, so are there any stores who do equal length headers?? and would it be beneficial for me to have an aftermarket down pipe like HKS??

as i have around 5-6k budget just for power and i think i could get some descent power out of that and around 4k for suspension... and ideas on how to help me splurge my $$$$

haha sorry but this is the first time i have EVER had anything to do with car mods let alone turbo engines

stock internals in your engine with turbo swap, TBE, intake, bigger intercooler etc you can have 210atw pretty easily for that cash.. like itd be tight if your buying all new parts, but not impossible.

Speak to MSR. or just browse through build threads for ideas.

sorry on the late reply I'm from the morisset area, there are a few silver libs getting around up here in the 06-08 i think but they are just the N/A heritage ones and most relatively stock except the on i sold to a mate a few days ago number plate CEO-11T, and my plates atm are NAA-56T but soon to be replaced by LBR-37Y...

one quick question, when buying a used car from a dealer and they are paying transfer fees and stamp duty etc, how do you know as a buyer when the car is registered in your name???
does the RTA send a letter or??
