I just redid the photoshop for the oem one to include the fmic too...

I'm still undecided, I might ask senator if he doesn't mine me test fitting his grille on mine as it's the same one I want just so I can see! Would obviously take photos too for comparison :D

I really like the zerosports grille normally, but I have to agree with the others that your car looks great with the honeycomb one.

I think the zerosports looks better on prefacelift. Honeycomb suits your car better Rome.

Sorry to be a sheep, but +1 on the honeycomb.
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!

I'm still split down the middle, maybe once I see it on it will help make up my mind easier. It just gives it that more aggressive look that I'm after...

Re: Member Profile - Rome

Postby Rome_BRZ » Wed May 30, 2012 10:10 am

So did some logging on my car on Monday night with Mick (dr20t) and found out IAM had dropped to 0.315. While I was a little shocked it was that low I wasn't completely surprised it was down as I knew the car was pulling timing being on the stock map with the mods I've done so far. Unfortunately I was supposed to have had a tune by now but given I was so close to upgrading the turbo I held off on it. Rang the man that will be tuning my car (Scott from Insight Motorsports) and he said it should be ok to drive around sedately until my next batch of mods go on and I can FINALLY get it dyno tuned!

Basically I'm still deciding which turbo I want and then I have to wait for Phat to work his magic! Turbo options I've looked at:
- Tomei M7760 - single scroll version, there is also a twin scroll version for those interested. Tomei released this a few years ago and it was designed to minimise lag and get as close to stock spool as possible while still being able to deliver decent top end power.
- Blouch 380xt - part of Blouch's "bolt-on" turbos for the Liberty, has been used by jaydece previously and there is another member who is going to have his car tuned with this shortly! Watching that space as his is an auto as well and will give me a guide on what I could expect from this turbo if I go with it.
- Blouch 440xt - as above, but a larger turbo.
- VF52 (this is my fall back option) - basically I could just decide that the numbers don't matter to me and I might be satisfied with just having a stock spooling turbo capable of just enough power to keep me happy...for now haha

The other goodies that will go on are:
- FMIC - Plasmaman core with custom pipework by Phat. I'm really looking forward to this. Originally I was going to colour match the core and piping but for now the core will be painted black for stealth, still undecided on the piping. I will also be potentially adding the zerosports main engine cover in carbon fibre to match the rest of my zerosports covers given that it will actually fit now that the ProcessWest TMIC is off!
- ID1000 injectors
- SARD Fuel Pump and SARD Fuel Regulator
- Custom oil catch can - by Phat. Considering painting this cusco blue ;)

Ideas on the turbos? Other suggestions?

Haha I know, bigger is better! Unfortunately given that I drive an Auto my biggest issues are going to be lag and the Torque Converter not being able to handle the power. I've also been watching MH30RB's thread because I was considering having my auto box built too, particularly upgrading the stall converter.

Rome? I WILL BE BIAS......BLOUCH 380XT! ehehehehe

220-230kw ATW heaps of torque! and no spool difference compared to the VF52....2700RPM and she'll be pulling! will work GREAT! with the auto....PHAT GT will tend to agree also as you would know...

IMO I think any bigger than this for an auto ( unless you do up the auto ) will be a waste

Good luck mate! should turn out to be awesome!

GO Blouch! ehehehe :D

Haha thanks Justin, I knew for sure you'd say the Blouch! The Tomei M7760 and Blouch 380xt are my two top choices, just waiting to see the other members results on the 380xt first ;)

I am pretty excited, this has been a long time coming!

EDIT: Just remembered, there's actually TWO members about to get tuned with the 380xt! Will be good to see how it goes!

Some links:

Tomei ARMS M7760 - http://shop.edoperformance.com/tomei-ar ... 12162.html

Blouch 380xt - http://www.bptstore.com/Subaru-Legacy-G ... p_113.html

Blouch 440xt - http://www.bptstore.com/Subaru-Legacy-G ... p_114.html

And everyone already knows the VF52. I was reading up and there's been some good results with the Tomei turbo on WRX's, I haven't been able to find anything on a Liberty/Legacy though. Obviously I can get more out of my set-up with equal length headers, possibly Tomei Expreme EL headers, but I am not willing to sacrifice the boxer burble!
