high flow cats for 3.0

Postby Stalker » Wed May 09, 2012 9:34 am

I just got an X-Force exhaust on my 3.0R. it was going to have high flow cats but they didnt know in addition to the 2 cats coming from the extractors, they go into a third cat. he couldnt find a third cat to suit and couldn't put the universal cats on because of the weird angle they go into the centre cat or something. he said it could be done but there would be more work involved so would cost a bit.

So i was wondering if anyone else had done the cats on the 3.0 and what they suggest.

Get rid of that cat and replace it with a 2 into 1 Y piece. Look at the "3R exhaust" and "mods to do before tune" threads in the 3.0 engine specific forum.

That's what I said to him but he said it would be illegal and costly to do

Not sure why it would be costly. But I would rather keep my car legal

its not illegal as you still have cats??
2-1 pipe shouldnt be too hard/costly to do

I think it depends where you are located, probably best to check.

I.e In Victoria it is illegal to remove or gut your Catalytic Converter(s) from your exhaust system.
