Phew, I was almost tempted until you sold them! Nah just kidding. Spending too much on the transmission to think about wheels just yet. Maybe later? And they will not be black, no they won't....most probably not,,,,, hopefully not.....gosh, maybe not...... Noooooooo.....

Will keep you posted as I hear more, but I do not expect the car back until next Monday, unless I get an early flight back from Sydney on Friday.

Touched base with the transmission guy today, David at Kewish Automotive. He has also diagnosed slip in the centre diff and I have requested him to refurbish that box with the additional clutch packs, seals, bushes and bearings.

But the bad news is that Subaru in Australia are struggling to find the auto transmission overhaul kits and they may need to order from Japan (minimum 10 day supply). There are some after market overhaul kits from Transtec (USA company) and available from Adelaide. Will touch base with David at Kewish tomorrow to make a decision, wait for OEM or use Transtec?

Any experience out there with Transtec overhaul kits in transmission world? I know it's a long shot, but our auto transmissions are used in Nissans and other brands and someone should have a friend of a friend who has some experience with Transtec parts.

I guess I should plan to be without the car for a month, but I am confident she will come back stronger and with better performance.

Update: Seems the original part number of the 5EAT transmission overhaul kit was changed a couple of years ago, but with no links in place from the old part number to the new part number. All parts arrived to day from Subaru Australia and work should now be completed next week.

Earlier this week, I was happy to have the car off the road for a week, then mid week, that turned into a month. Today it will be another week for a total of 2 weeks off the road and I was very happy to hear that news today.

Had you told me at the beginning of this week that the car would have been off the road for 2 weeks, I would have somewhat pissed off, but I am now happy that at least it is not going to be a month waiting for bits from Japan!

The subtle differences make the gram lights that much better, well my opinion anyway..
