Gen IV Clocks

Postby mynameisdaniel » Tue May 08, 2012 6:23 pm

So, a small problem with my CarPC build... Having no clock is really starting to annoy me. The screen I put in doesn't have a computer to display anything at the moment so it's just blank for now. But it got me thinking. On the models with the factory Sat Nav, where is the clock in the car? Is it simply just displayed on the screen?

There is an info panel relocation kit. It moves it down to where the ash try is. A few people have them.

On the IV SatNav (mine), you can have the option to have the clock shown or not. It displays at the top left if it is on.

It's also near the 1-6 radio buttons displayed on the screen there.

+1 I want to do this purely due to the fact that I hate cigarette lighters & ash trays in cars, but I have nothing to replace it with

Thanks guys, the relocation kit is pretty expensive considering it's just a clock, plus I use the ash tray for storage a lot (remotes and stuff). I'd be better off saving the money and getting the computer done sooner I think :P

Any mods I do to my car I prefer to do myself & unfortunately a cap PC is above and beyond my capabilities. Unless someone would like to build it for me I'd have no problem installing it myself :)

EDIT: financially, if I was to a car PC I could then sell my HU & fascia kit to fund it :) I dislike the look of the stock HU though

if i can run a media player with my music files already on there to use, or someway to 'plug and play' an ipod/thumb drive/external harddrive id be more than happy to build a car pc (then once its figured out and finished more than happy to build for other people too)

This is what I love the most! It's the new Maclaren MP4-12C centre console. Did I read somewhere that someone had done something similar with an iPad?

Just ran out to the car to try it but no luck. I found the menu to adjust the time and date, but there's no option to display it and it doesn't come up when I cycle through the screens. Any idea on what else I could try? I'm thinking they may have changed it for the 08 model....

There's an iPad facia kit for the 07-09 (??? I think - I can't quite remember) Impreza - redirects the AC vents and everything. I haven't seen a kit for the Liberty.

Was the clock there after you connected the sat nav up? Seems that in the US models the clock is there but their manuals say it gets the time from the sat nav unit :(
