Factory sat nav unit

Postby Nick3.0R-B » Wed May 02, 2012 3:06 pm

Gday lads

Question in regards to an 05 factory satnav.

Is there a separate navigation box anywhere? Or is it all within the touch screen unit. (ps it is a touch nav)

Cheers

Yeah, it's in the glovebox, top right. Or if it was dealer fitted it's under the drivers seat apparently.

Ive got the screen, glove box drive, cubby/vent din and wiring (i hope all of it) on the way.

Will this be a huge exercise? ive got a 2005 3.0RB with the 6 stacker mcintosh system.

From what I have been told after looking at this myself. Yes. A huge job.... Unless your car came with it from the factory you have a different bulkhead wiring harness (the wiring that pretty much EVERYTHING is attached to) so the one you have won't have the connectors for the sat nav.

Seems like you'll have to get some wiring diagrams and connect up the appropriate wires. This might be different for your model, I'm not 100% about the differences between the Gen IVs. I'd be interested in knowing if you do happen to find the connectors though.

i was looking at the NORTH AMERICAN version of the service manuals and this is what i got so far :

Looks Like there is a 13pin Din cable (Plug looks like -> http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/13-PIN-DIN-M ... 3a73c40812) that goes between the navi disk drive and the display (LCD), there is also a power plug that connects to the disk drive.

i beleive there may be a 36 pin cable between the screen and the mac ???? Maybe its a big maybe. its somehow got to have power and so on. i have started to right a list of pinouts for each plug. ill post it when i am finished.

hope that can help get started.

ill post more when the nav shows up. its being posted tomorrow :D
