In order of preference, any blow-by would be directed towards:

1. A stand alone cannister.
2. The sump.
3. On top of your breakfast cereal.
4. The intake charge.
5. Your eyes.

So Bruce's setup is the second best and 99% of cars on here have the second worst.

I went for option 2 and my used oil analysis shows it is absolutely not an issue.

I would have been happy with a little contamination as that's what the filter is for, but there is none.

I use 5W30 oil but there is still no measurable contamination from draining my condensed blow by back to the sump (and zero maintenance of the system).

So I guess I could have made them equal first on the list, but theoretically a stand alone must be considered superior. In theory ... I guess.

the lack of maintenance i guess is a good thing, my issue from what ive seen is the water and condensation that builds up, this can be seen under most oil caps of any car, i dont want that shit in my oil and i also dont want any carbon or sludge crap blocking up my oil pick up over time, i know that lots of guys will change there oil enough to not worry about this but still i rather be safe than sorry

Had the car looked at by a recommended PDR guy. Very happy with the result and will be starting an EOI for a PDR day for the Melbourne Cruisers.

I'm running out of things to do to the car so will continue to tune and tidy it up cosmetically.

Well it's been a week since the last update so I thought I'd better put up something as I've made some decisions on the car following the dyno day result

The car made 177 awkws at the Edge Motorworks dyno day. A pretty underwhelming figure given the mod list.

Reason's given by Cihan, the Edge tuner, were the grossly rich mix at OL, AFR's at 9.1 and the fact the car was pinging.

I had taken a LV before the car went on and my IAM was 1.0. Following my dyno run IAM was at 0.9375 so effectively the car ran like crap a blew a heap of black smoke and not much else.

Disappointed I was. I thought we'd spent a lot of time with the car on the Revzone dyno to get it running well. Though I can now reveal that I'd shared my concerns with friends from this forum and on RomRaider, about the tune as some of the crucial tables were either zeroed or adjusted unnecessarily and were now working against the Subaru ECU logic. Not a really good way to make power and a more risky tune.

I contacted Revzone yesterday and explained my result and the discussions I'd had with Cihan. There was no offer to come back and sort out the tune and the call simply ended with "I have to go a customer's just come in". I took that as our relationship had ended.

Taking Justin's and Brian's and Anthony's advice I'd decided to take the car to Springy motors who's cars produced good results on the Edge Dyno with good AFR's and no pinging. I went in to see the guys at Springy yesterday lunch time and have booked the car in for a full check and remap on United Premium 100 to be done on 16-05-2012.

You're not wrong. Though from what I've seen with both HPF and Springy maps they are actually doing the right thing.

I'll put this down to a lesson learnt and move on.

Ultimately, I'd like to be able to tune the car myself with multiple maps for any fuel so I can run whatever fuel I want for any given situation.

lessons both have learnt using them...but we had to try, my car was built there so it was logical that i first try them.

you should get him to do a before and after dyno run to see what the old tune does on springy compaired to the hub dyno

I'll leave it to them. They've done a stellar job on Justin's car and by all accounts Brian's car should be too.

i wanna see how all the guys at springy go and ginos at the edge, the guy down at the edge does weekend work and said we could be pressant when he's running it and i really like that kind of support
