Bloody car thieves! :(

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Did you have the cradle/suction cap mount on your windscreen at the time?

Yep. I'd heard all the stories about how even just having a ring on the glass is enough for them to break in and look in the glovebox.
Just thought "it's broad daylight in a busy carpark, they wouldn't dare". How wrong I was.

Allowing for $500 insurance excess, and about $450 to replace the Navman, it's nearly a $1,000 lesson :(

A few guys I know (and me) dont bother with the cradle now. Just leave it in the centre console or passenger seat and use the voice directions only.

This was as a result of my mate learning the hard way. Driver's Window, Ipod, Navman, Blackberry, Wallet with his rent money ($1650). They would have thought they had hit the jackpot.

Nothing was visible either.

The policewoman you can see reflected in my window in the first photo gave me those gloves to avoid cutting myself on the glass while I was cleaning up. They said there was no point fingerprinting, the crooks never touched anything, they didn't even open the door, just reached in and grabbed the GPS. They didn't even notice the laptop and camera on the back seat...

Hey Ric.. sorry that happened mate, but at least on the brighter side it could have been a lot lot worse!

That's a bummer Ric, how many $$ damage was the window etc? Worth paying the insurance excess?
Will the navman be replaced by your insurance?

Subaru have quoted me about $1300 to fix it (just from looking at the photos in this topic! ;))
No, AAMI won't cover a portable GPS. I just priced them again today, and I can pick up a replacement for $390 in a special sale on thursday or friday night.

my mate used to drive tourist buses and he one day pulled up behind a "Kents Removals" truck..
as some drivers do he said over the mike "kents removals... i heard they didn't last too long in New Zealand because of their name"
all the guys on the bus were laughing and all the wives were asking "what did he say that was so funny?"
