Hopefully those who aren't flush with cash and want a turbo upgrade can consider the VF52. The guys, Jaydece and Brainy took it for a drive tonight and by all reports it feels like a 200kw car so I reckon I've proved it can be done.

Mine is a manual 6 speed.

Like I've always said doesn't matter bout the figure on a graph it's how itdrives and your enjoyment of it that counts.

I didn't doubt the vf52 would get to 200 but I will be honest and say I had my doubts it would get close to 220 atw on a proper, safe tune. Since you're not going for those sort of numbers the 52 seems perfect for spool, mid range and the desired outcome. And at a low cost with oem engineering reliability to boot!

Nonetheless all that bs doesn't matter just enjoy your car man it should be very fun to drive!

Talking numbers, the car did make 215awkw, but on road tuning it with a knock sensor it seemed a bit to unsafe hence was backed off a bit.

As this is my first attempt at modding a turbo car I'm pretty wrapped at the result. I was pretty close to my budget and got good power, great handling and even a couple of extras which make it a bit different. And the boys confirming I was on the right track has put a huge smile on my dial.

I'm now looking to see how you blokes with your plans go before I consider what to do next.

Had the pleasure of driving this car tonight.....and I must say....what a difference! Not bad for a OEM turbo....very smooth but eager at mid range....especially compared to his last setup

Quick question, does revzone use a hub dyno or a roller dyno?

I am a dyno beginner. Do the different types of dyno's (hub vs roller) make a difference to the results?

Yes, you have pros and cons for each, from memory hub dyno's are a little more fudge proof then roller dyno's but probably best to google and read up. Neither are as accurate as a true engine dyne, but they (hub & roller dyno's) serve a purpose as a tuning tool.

The pro of a hub dyno over a roller dyno is that it is apparently accurate to within 0.3% on repeated runs. However, the con is that you can't get a meaningful comparison between a hub dyno read out and a roller dyno read out as the hub dyno doesn't take into account factors such as the power loss through the actual wheels and tyres themselves. As a general rule the read-out can be anywhere from 5-15% lower when running the car on a roller dyno compared to a hub dyno.

Long story short that's why I say a cars performance needs to be judged by your bum and by a quarter mile pull

As long as you use the dyno purely as a tuning tool then it really doesn't matter whether you go roller or hub. Often your tuner will have access to one or the other so you really won't have a choice of dyno. Just a choice of tuner. Personally, I have a preference for hub because it does eliminate some errors in strapping, tyre pressure and slippage on the rollers etc. And you're right hubs show a higher degree of accuracy on repeated runs. Again numbers are just numbers.

Having chatted with a few tuners now there are all sorts of opinions on what constitutes a good tune. At the end of the day cylinder pressure will determine how hard you can push either boost and or timing till your engine goes BANG.

I'm waiting for an opportunity to get the car down the quarter mile. But for now I'll settle for my pretty happy bum dyno.
