Yes, I am waiting for one as well. Although the AVIC F40BT is really tempting as well. Dont need 2 GPS"s though, I would get twice as lost....
I have the F20BT in my other car and it is great except I would like to be able to change the background colour to red to match the rest of the lights.
Does the 8450 allow you to do that?

im not 100% on the background, i have a feeling yes. but i know you can change the lights on the buttons at the front to 112 diffenent colours. and you can also turn the screen off while using it so i think its a good unit.

i got a call today from the lifestyle store in parramatta. he can get my unit in next week, soo good!

I have upgraded my sub amp to a HDP 1 Hertz digital Amp 1000w, thinking about upgrading the speakers amp aswell. Can anybody explain to me what it means to overpower your components, sorta flew over my head, when the guy tried explaining it to me.

Basically it means that you run your components on an amp that exceeds the recommended power handling characteristics for the components.

I.e. You have a set of splits rated at 50wRMS, hooking them up to an amp rated at 50wRMS per channel means the amp has to work harder to provide full power to the speakers and hence runs the risk of clipping and cooking voice coils etc.

Hooking them up to an amp rated at 80wRMS per channel means that you have some headroom in the amp so it doesn't have to work as hard and minimises the risk of clipping and damaging the amp and/or the speakers.

HDP1 won't overpower your 12" and they are great amp. Upgrade speaker amp with a HDP4 and you will have same amps as the 2nd place in the Intermediate Class of MEASQ.

Hi Richard, link doesn't work. Have you heard the Dyn's for yourself? I'm very interested to hear your opinion on them, I've never been fortunate enough to work with Dyn gear and there is a pretty major install I am trying my hardest to finish off and the owner (one of these lucky bastards that seems to have endless funds) is looking at upgrading his front stage. At this stage the Esotecs are looking to be the likely winners.

Okay so its a good thing to overpower, ok went and sorted everything out, getting both the HDP1 and 4 pretty sweet hope this system will pump!! im pretty keen to get it all and done

Guys i Have finally bought it all and am just waiting as lifestyle are going to sound deaden my car, as i think if i was to do it, i'd be there forever. As soon as thats done, ill be starting my install. Now i only have a couple of issues.

1. How to get the power cable through the firewall. I had a look today and i think this is the only free grommet, but not to sure where it leads.

If anyone has a Gen 3 or knows the car well, Can you guys tell me what you have done/seen.

2. With my amps im not 100% n the tuning witht he settings on them, can anyone, give me around where they can be, for a starting position, then by changing them i can see what they do. This is what i have them set at now. (its what i think they need to be set at, ps HDP1 sorta had no idea.)

Your crossovers are set wrong. They should be at about 80-90Hz if you are running a 12". This is for both the HDP4 and HDP1.

Subsonic filter is set correctly at 18Hz. What this does is that it does not play freqs below 18Hz. Its designed to be used with smaller subs that will not play those freqs well and can cause them damage.

In regards to the 'Level' that depends on what voltage output your headunit provides to the RCA's and also what power your speakers require. It cannot be set by a certain set of rules. Can only be adjusted when fully installed and it gets adjusted through hearing. Theres a guide on MEA on how to adjust gains, but I'd recommend getting it done properly if you do not understand this.

Wiring wise. The power run to the distro is fine. However I wouldn't run the power to the back seat and along the back seat to go to the second amp. Just go directly under the seats. (ie. From distro to pass side amp. and from distro under pass seat, under centre console and to drivers side amp).

Your remote wire. Get 1 run going from the headunit and split it under the centre console. You will save yourself some cable (although its cheap anyway) and its cleaner.

Grounds. Don't use 2 seperate bolts as this can introduce a ground loop. My recommendation is get another distro block. Get a thick gauge cable going from 1 bolt under the centre console into the distro as close as you can get to the bolt and then get your 2 grounds meeting in the centre console at the distro.

Thanks mate, what about the multiplier on the HDP 4, also the remote volume control (on/off?), the lo pass filter (whats it meant to be at?) and the phase dial?

So the remote wire from the headunit will be fine running with the RCA's
