Swaybar upgrades - what do I need?

Looks like it does come with two sway bar mount support braces. Not familiar with the underside of an MY12, but certain they do the same job as HD mounts and that is to strengthen the mounting and avoid it breaking. Is there a non-adjustable version you can save $$$ on? I'm willing to bet you will never adjust an adjustable one.

I can't find anything that is not adjustable unless I go thicker.

All Whiteline 09 onwards

They have a 20mm (same as your quoted model) non-adjustable, and it doesnt come with the mount supports. This tells me Whiteline don't deem it necessary to support the mounts unless adjusting to a higher stiffness. If it were me, I'd just get the 20mm non-adjustable.

I had a chat with Steve from Whiteline this morning and he suggested I definitely go with a 22mm bar. I looked at the option of getting a Cusco but could not find a place to get it easy and in the end was happy with the saving in price of the Whiteline for what I am going to use it for plus maybe putting the extra towards a whiteline tower strut bar.

Just waiting on a price back from Taylor then I will get it organise hopefully for a replacement next week and maybe again the following week for my MY10 Forester as it has the same rear sway bar requirement exactly.

Is there any special requirements with installing them? Seems to be only a few nuts and bolts and could be done in around an hour but planning on doing it by myself so allowing a few hours since it is the first one I have ever replace.

Do I need to have it up on stands or ramps?
Should I be expecting to be struggling getting everything to move and hence a hassle lining everything backup when installing the new sway bar?

I see no mention of rear HD mounts, often considered a corequisite with this install.

Sorry I am confused who I have told and not. Spoke to a few different places including whiteline themselves and they have advised that the Gen V is different to the Gen IV and hence don't need HD mounts and hence are not made for the Gen V with it's Impreza rear bar setup. It does however have upgrade Incls KBR15 sway bar mount support brace to compensate for this.

Sounds good Mark, I will wait on Taylor first then look at going down next week if easier. I work in Clayton so not too far to go. Probably take a few of the guys from work with Subaru's and come back with the wagon full I guess. If they have them in stock.

Does anyone know this place in Hallam?

I bought both my front and rear Whiteline swaybars from them. No issues whatsoever, even when I inadvertently bought the early Gen4 front swaybar (straight centre part) instead of the MY07+ Gen4 swaybar (which is slightly more expensive because the centre part has an extra kink in the middle to avoid the exhaust) causing it to hit the exhaust and make a rattle, they accepted a return with no question and replaced it with the proper one with the only extra money paid being the difference in cost plus my cost for posting the swaybar back to them.

Definitely buy though their Quicksales listings - cheaper than their eBay listings and their own online store listings.

nice, has anyone tried the EMOTION FUKUOKA HD mounts seem to do the same job as the Avo ones but slightly cheaper.

One of my cousins decided since he didn't want to stay home and watch the AFL yesterday come around and talked me in to swapping out the old sway bar. Mind you had to go see the neighbours to borrow stands and a jack. But wasn't too hard to find. (Not that I knew they had all this but handy to know for later)

But not sure I have started something with the new sway bar upgrade to the Whiteline 22mm. I have set it on the middle setting to get 22mm but when playing on a corner on the way home tonight it seemed to push out the front end. I think that is under understeering? So on the weekend going to look at moving it back one to loosen it up a little.

What do I do otherwise to fix the understeer?

Do I need to replace the front sway bar now?

I didn't really test it out to start off with the stock sway bar so not 100% sure if it did it back then also?

At the same time I installed a tower strut bar but that from my understanding was for this instance a play bar and won't do much but does it in this case?

Yes it's understeer. Make the rear bar harder or the front one softer.

So are the rear HD mounts an absolute neccesity on a 2006 Liberty SpecB?
