So my car is looking at getting worked on at the end of May with new turbo, intercooler, injectors, and fuel pump.

I still cant decide on FMIC versus TMIC though as noone in Perth seems interested in fitting a FMIC to my car and all advise against it (some reputable subaru builders/tuners amongst them). I have been told it will wreck my car, will rattle, will be too much of a headache etc etc. And all for little powergains. The Phat man still recommends the FMIC option and a few of you on here do too.

If i stay with TMIC I will be going Process West.

Just would like some help making a decision on which way to go. TMIC replacement would be the easy way to go but would still suffer from heat soak and I cant use my engine cover anymore. FMIC will be a bit harder to fit and will require cutting my front bar etc but should net better power figures and is slightly more expensive.

Thoughts?

How much power do you want? It's not just about netting better power figures with a FMIC it's also about the efficiency of a FMIC over the TMIC, so if you are chasing bigger numbers you'd want the car to be running as efficiently as possible yes?

If you want the absolute most from your setup go the FMIC and thus leave no leaf unturned.
If your happy with the compromise of marginally less power for ease of install go the TMIC setup.

*i will rephrase to a degree. If you want absolute performance and the absolute maximum out of your setup go FMIC and dont hesitate for a second. Take an uncompromising approach to your build and seek nothing but the best. If a workshop says they cant or wont do it, keep asking and looking around for someone passionate and dedicated that will throw it all on the line to 'not' make your car a wreck and rattle with a front mount solution. *hindsight is a valuable lesson*

So much for my new grill....I cancelled my order as it was just an insert into the stock one instead of a complete unit.

Maj3sticCr0w wrote:Can someone explain to me the difference between a 7cm turbo housing vs 8cm in terms of performance (spool times etc) still looking at the Blouch 380 but as these are proving hard to find starting to look elsewhere, maybe TD05 18xt. lateral performance MD321H??

Also starting to wonder if I should go front mount so I can keep my engine cover :p .......and for better performance :p

if you are after Spool stick with the 7cm.. this is the most common rear housing for the upgrades

if i were u i would stay TMIC and a 7cm to maximise the spool and having a FMIC isnt going to give you better performance.. in some cases u can loose power.. there are cars out there in the Subaru world making over 300kw@wheels using TMIC Kits.

if u need a 380XT pm me as we are the Dist for the Blouch Turbos in Aus. Our prices are on par with USA..

Thanks troy, had a think about it and going to stick with TMIC.

Parts should be going on soon with a retune end of the month.

My new grill should be ready waiting for me when I get back to Perth on Wed, so I guess anyone interested in my OEM Honeycombe grill can PM me, $320 grill is in very good condition.

That's the coolest thing I have seen!!
Below car has been gone for quite some time now... blew bottom end bearing and dealership screwed me! Now driving 2008 WRX with ~65k kms on the clock. Only has cat back exhaust and tune by KiDo at the moment! More to come... but slowly!

Purchased recently (12/11/2013), already with: Stage 2 Pedders lowered springs, rear Whiteline sway bar, Advan Racing TCII 18x8 wheels, k&N pod filter, custom 3" exhaust system from turbo back with Magnaflow mufflers. ECUTEK tune of some sort (hopefully soon to be fixed)..... now FIXED!! Now KiDo Tuned!
Added: HID kit, EZ lip equivalents to the front and sides, and various LED treatments, oem boot spoiler, [LGT WRC] plates, GFB Respons BOV for extra Pssscchhh! --> Gone... I couldn't afford it's heart transplant... but keep a look out, as it will come back on sale soon!
