Brake Light/Auto box issue

Postby seanmau5 » Mon Apr 09, 2012 6:11 pm

So a couple of months ago I posted an issue where sometimes I couldn't take the transmission from park into reverse or drive etc.. So on the way home today my mate tells me I have no brake lights.. After doing some testing I worked out that:
Foot on the brake pedal & brake lights on=transmission can be taken out of park
Foot on the brake pedal & no brake lights=transmission is stuck in park..

Ideas??

After further research I have come to conclusion that it is most likely the brake light switch. It is an intermittent issue and quite frustrating.

After visiting so many automotive places finally the guys at Burtons Automotive gave me a part number - Tridon TBS042.. The only one in the country is at their store in Albury. Does anyone live there and want to do me a favour?

it probably just needs adjusting.

remove it from the pedal assembly and inspect it and it's wiring connectors
but yes.
the switch is responsible for the "Shift Lock" operation

Cheers, after pulling it out and checking all the wires/connectors I haven't had a problem after testing it about 40 times. Fingers crossed
