3.0R Air Intake Recommendation

Hey,

i have been looking at all the different threads on air intakes and have seen a few different intakes
that people have installed on there cars, im wanting to put one on my car but want to get peoples suggestions on the
best one to purches and install. Is it better to go with silicone tubing or aluminum, also guessing that
the best improvements come from having a pod filter as opposed to a panel filter thats currently on it,

both Saffarco and myself have one, and there is another member on the forum who is going to get one.

Saffarco, i belive has just the pipe and a K&N pod filter (Ali, you can chime in here)

and i have the kit they have provided me with fully installed including the cold air upgrade, bar a little modification i made as per the link above.
im also looking at getting their Airbox for legality reasons

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with the stock intake.
However, i chose to try the intake kit out because there was no one else on the forum who had one.

I did initially notice a difference after installation, the car was more revvy, and acceleration felt a tad quicker.
There is nothing wrong with getting an aluminium pipe, as even tho it will get quite hot to touch, the speed that the air is travelling through the pipe will be too quick for it to soak up the heat. unless of course your every day driving is stop start city traffic

im guessing that the one that yout have installed on your car was
one made for the 2005 h6 outback one as they have the same
engine bay a the liberty

are you in Aus? if you are, youll most likely need some sort of air box for legality issues

yean i am in Aus,

yeah i was looking at a few, there are some plastic heat sheelds that are made for the liberty but im not to sure
if they will fit, might end up having to make one out of aluminum, if i cant find one

have you got any suggestions for one??

well, at the moment i havent got one on there. its risky business.
the same company that make the intakes, also make an air box for a Gen3 H6, so i was looking into getting one.

im more than happy to order one this week, fit it when it gets here and let you know?

The weapon r is just a great intake. However, I made use of the pipe only and I am satisfied with it. Of course there has been a clear difference. My advice is to cut the pipe a little (2 in) to utilize the air duct.. You will notice a great sound believe me 

That would be good i wouldnt mind seeing one installed with the air box, im not in to much of a rush
to get one at the moment,

fog light cover up as well,

Don't forget to install an oil separator kit. The plastic box just before the throttle body might get oil dirt.. would recommend Greddy oil separator kit.. you will need to check the box from time to time, make sure it's clean... good luck
