Will 18x9.5 fit?

Postby Azzo28 » Tue Mar 06, 2012 6:31 am

Hi guys,
I'm looking at getting a set of Varrstoen 2.2.1. 18x9.5 (because they don't come any skinnier) +34 offset. The guy at Varrstoen Australia said it'd be an aggressive fitmet, but an easy fit, so surely he's right? What else may I need to do to get them to fit? Camber? Rolled guards?
I am fitting them on a 2001 Heritage.
Thanks for your help.

Didn't know they made those in 5x100...

It depends on offset...you may have issues with the wheels hitting your struts?

You will need coilovers.

How do coilovers help with putting wheels on a car?

diameter of springs and spring seats is smaller so you get more room on the inside of the wheel.

I thought that was general knowledge when fitting much wider wheels. Coilovers are much thinner than the factory struts and springs. Much more room in the guard.

Considering 17x7 +55 with 215's is about 10mm of clearance to the trailing arms on a gen3.

And you want a 18x9.5+34. Thats over 2 inches further out, and half an inch further in.

I highly doubt you'd fit them on the rear, and the fronts would be a f*ckaround of epic proportions.

They do sound like a headache, and one expense after another. May just go for the Advanti Almera's in 18x8. Unless I can find another set of wheels that look like the Volk Te37's in 18x8?

Having fitted 18x9.5 +40's and 18x9 +35's on my car previously, I can say that they will definitely fit.. It's just a matter of how much camber, guard rolling/pushing/flaring and how low you want your car to be.

You do realise this is for a 2001 Subaru Liberty Heritage Gen III? Very different shape to your MY08 Gen IV.

I have those 18 x 8 Advanti Almera wheels on my Gen 4 3RB, they look really good and with a bit of negative camber there is no scraping.
