Where can I find the info on the Hb hack and any other mods for the sat nav? Is it true you can get additional engine info displayed?

Search? Try

handbrake my10

;)

And no - you can't get additional engine info. It allows you to use all functions while the vehicle is in motion. It is really simple and so useful - the passenger can control playlists etc.

Funny thing is that the dealer told me when I bought the car that putting the new disc in would wipe settings, stored numbers, stored addresses etc etc.

The only thing that was lost was the fact that it was daylight savings (or wasn't, whichever it basically changed the clock by an hour) everything else was fine

I was told that disconnecting the battery would loose any updates applied. I needed to do it to apply the handbreak hack and all that was lost was the radio station settings.

If you have the 'dial by name' fix applied, you lose that. Dealer has to reapply it.

Apparently, but the version was persistent for me.

V18 should be released in april/may. It was supposed to have been last year but the tsunamis ruined that

Not interested in the map disc but am interested in the head light protectors.
I will have to keep an eye on his auctions.
Thanks for the heads up.

How bout you read through the thread to see what experience other Gen4 owners have had instead of making a useless post???

Hey Guys,

I got my Subaru on Friday and just checked to see what version I have an it is still 2010.1 V17 C2 Version 5.0 it says on the Cover that comes with it.

I wonder how long we can have dodgy 2 year old Maps hanging around. I would of thought if you by a 2012 car it would at least have a 2011 map in it.

Seems pretty dodgy all in all!

I agree, you pay mid 50k for a car then the maps should be updated until the warranty runs out...

Whereis 18 is to be released in April.....but cost towards $300

should be just map upgrade free

maybe we should organise a group buy?

Yeah i mentioned that earlier in the thread.. i was going to organise it for v17, but no one wanted to pay.. and its a bit stingy if you have two people buying and everyone else getting a free copy.

I emailed Whereis to ask what is going on with the old maps that are in my new Subaru Liberty and got the following response.

Thank you for contacting Sensis.

Version 17 – using map data 2010/2011 was released in Sept 2011. This delay in releasing this update was due to the impact on production from the Japan Earthquake.

This estimated for release for Version 18 is late April 2012.

At this stage, no specific date or price for this update has been confirmed. Please continue to visit our website www.whereismaps.com regularly for further information on upcoming release dates on our map updates.

The reason why the in-car navigation units do not always contain the most current map updates is because this is due to the car production timelines.

Subaru uses the Denso Japan navigation system and the Whereis Maps team provides the new release of the map database to Denso in December each year. It then reaches the Subaru Australia consumer around 12 to 14 months later.

This gap between supplying the latest map update and consumers having access to it is due to vehicle production timelines, map conversion and testing as the vehicle manufacturers controls the production timelines, prices, Navigation functionality.

Thank you for your time and apologies for any inconvenience.

Please do not hesitate to contact us on: 1800 819 471 should you require further assistance or have further enquiries,

Kind Regards

Lasa
