Replacing headlights. high beam wattage?

Postby Stalker » Tue Feb 28, 2012 12:43 pm

I want to replace my headlights with the blue tinted ones that produce a white light. from what i can find i need a 55W H7 for the low beams and i believe for high beams i need 9005 but i'm not sure what would be the best wattage. i'm sure the cars manual probably has this information but the cars locked up at home at the moment and i wanted to make sure i got it right.

also confirming i need T10 for parkers and licence plate lights?

and finally i have heard that it is a bad idea to use the blueish white light for fog lights. can someone confirm this and maybe explain why?

thanks.

Yellow will cut through fog, blue won't

Blue/white light will just reflect off the fog

I've just done the change of my stock halogen high beams to Philips diamond vision high beams, stock ones are 65w so a straight swap with the globes HB3 (9005), here is a thread I made a month or two ago might help

viewtopic.php?f=24&t=15499&start=15

these globes do not offer more light than stock high beams just more a change from yellow to more white/blue, if you want more light your gonna have to go HID

Just go HID. You will gain maybe 10% improvement in changing out globes, but HIDs will net you 400% light output increase.

I sell genuine Philips retail HID kits, PM me for more information.

i dont want HID cause i want to keep my car relatively stock and legal. as HIDs are only legal with auto-levelers and auto-washers this is too much work for me to justify. Just want the bluish-white colour really.

Had these glodes in my CJ lancer and was happy with them

try those Philip diamond vision bulbs .. think they are around $80 per pair... Careful with FAKE ones out there ..
i bought one set from Japan before (6 yrs ago) the light it self wasn't too bad pretty white ..

And with the fog ... if you want light cut through the fog ... go YELLOW ! thats why i got Yellow HID kit in my fog and high beam.
