OK so many enquiries...the twin roofs are $100 plus postage and I'd guess being approx the same at $13.

I just had my sunroof and front windows tinted by Rob -- and I am very, very pleased with the results.

For those who are considering getting the sunroof done, I recommend it 100%. Here are some pics below.

When Rob told me over the phone that the tint was highly reflective, I was a bit hesitant at first because I was afraid it might have that mirrorized chrome look. But he reassured me that it would just blend in. So I trusted him and he was right. The car looks totally stock and clean, it should have come from the factory this way. It's much cooler now in the cabin on those hot summer days.

The sunroof aside, Rob does charge a bit more than other tinters out there. So what do you get for this extra premium? First, Rob's really knowledgeable about how our doors are put together. He showed me all the plastic clips and interior fasteners that hold the door and speakers together. He can take them out and put them back in with his eyes closed. Second, he's really careful not to scratch or nick the interior of the car. And third, he's a delight to deal with and treats his customers (even fussy ones like me) with patience and respect. Money well spent in my opinion, and would recommend other forum members to him.

Guys I noticed a few of you asking some questions for Rob, and he hasn't gotten back to you. I decided to drop in today and see what is up.
He sends his apologies, but he has been unable to login to the forum as his account has been locked out due to too many incorrect password inputs. I have PM'd Ric to fix it. But don't worry Rob is still very happy to help out our club. He actually said to me today that us liberty.asn boys are the nicest bunch he has ever come across from clubs. So thumbs up boys

Hi All,

I have been chatting to Rob via Email, and he even got back to me on a Sunday!!

Rob has covered this off but I guess others will have the same question with the privacy glass (He advised that Tint is not required on Privacy Glass) When I was looking around at cars the dealers were trying to sell me tint for all windows as they claimed the Privacy Glass was only coloured glass.

One of the forum post that I found that was agreeing with the dealer and was from Subaru???

The following are the UV penetration levels for the glass on your Outback Wagon: (Don't know year so have they changed and what country??)

Front windshield - 0%
Front door glass - 19%
Moonroof - 4%
Rear door glass - 5%
Rear door partition glass - 4%
Rear quarter glass - 12%
Rear hatch glass - 4%

Ah on here at last guys....thanks to Kieran and Ric for helping me out.
I certainly have answered queiries as they came to me via a direct PM.

One thing I have noted with interest is the posting from the Subaru rep in the USA about technical specs of their glass.

Our laminated front windshields here do in fact filter out 75% of ultra violet rays as they come from glass manufacturers.
The screens in the USA would have to be fully tinted to achieve a 0% penetration.

Libertys from 2008 or thereabouts with privacy glass have 3 different colours of factory tint in the one car.
Makes even trying to match a nightmare.

Hi Rob, i am interested in getting my gen3 liberty rx re-tinted because the one the previous owner had is bubbling. I figured i may as well go as dark as legally possible while I'm at it. Is it possible to get an approximate cost from you for the job?

Hi Brady,
The major problem now is the fact that you have a cheap sunburnt film on that has gone to God in a big way.
It's not a simple matter of tearing off the sheet and all is nice.

The old film can be an absolute nightmare to remove and almost certainly will leave the glue on the glass once the sheet is pulled off.
That's where it gets hard especially on the rear screen as a blade can't be used to remove the adhesive because it would wreck the heater demister.

To save you money may I suggest you strip the back seat and rear carpet shelf out and have a go at removal yourself as time is your own.
I can give you a heads up on how to do it and it will probably involve a whole day's work for you.

If you had nothing on there, I'd suggest to budget for $360 plus GST total $396 for the sides and rear installation in a high performance film.

I'll have to wait until this uni semester is over, so it can be a winter project for me....as i understand it, the best way is to get a steamer to get the old film off, yes?

A steamer helps a little Brady but be can be deemed useless with some films as it makes no impact on removing the adhesive at all.
It's a suck it and see approach and you'll only know that once you start to "get into it."

Thanks for your time tonight. Was a great experience to have someone who wasn't in it just to get me to tint where it's not required.

Can you let me know when I can bring the first car down. The most involved on... MY10 Subaru Forester XS Premium. We will get the Sunroof and front doors done. When I get my car in I will get you to do the same on that one and then the other one a few weeks later.
