Introduce yourself

New White MY12 GT Wagon Owner

Postby Endorphin » Fri Jan 06, 2012 9:18 pm

Hi all

Long time lurker, first time poster =)

I live in Seven Hills, NSW and have owned a black MY04 GT wagon since new. I've just upgraded (some would argue) to an MY12 GT wagon in white. Optioned with mesh grille, STI lip and short shifter. I know those parts would have been cheaper had I not got them through the dealer, but I figured it'd be easier to slip them past the financial controller if they were buried in the car's invoice. :)

I've only had it for a couple of weeks, so no real impressions so far, but the one thing that hit me immediately is that the McIntosh has taken a big step backwards in sound quality. Otherwise I'm pretty happy. Definitely feels faster than the MY04 - the change from 5AT in the Gen 4 to 6MT probably has something to do with that.

This is a great forum, as you can probably see I've been a member for a while. Figured it was time to introduce myself, what with the new car and all. I'll post up some pics in the next few days, and look forward to sending lots of money Phat's way. STI pinks are on the to do list, as are sway bars and mufflers. Not sure what people are using for those, I understand the STI quads are crazy expensive but I want to minimise the number of aftermarket parts on the car this early in its life.

Cheers
Troy

Welcome and congrats on your recent purchase... hope you enjoy your new ride

And, like garbo.... go the GenV wagon!

We got similar tastes! - I went for the mesh grille and STIP lip spoiler as well (but minus the short shifter as mines plays the family slingshot role, hence 5AT)

Be sure to share some pics!!

Welcome.

The Gen5 has really grown on me of late, in the GT wagon only of course and white.

I think it may be the next family car......

Yep Wagon and white can look very sexy even stock, add on some 19's and coilovers with the STi lip and aftermarket grille it's a mean looking car. Still too big looking though unfortunately, but the size suits the wagon a little more.

Oh and I wouldn't go STi pinks. They don't lower the car enough, wheel arch gap is still too huge.

I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!

Depending on what you're after, the sti springs will be fine. No, they don't reduce the wheel arch gap by much, but, it improves the ride and you're still able to go down steep driveways, gutters, etc.

Depends on what you're after.

Good luck - and enjoy.

Looking forward to future pics :-)
If I had to upgrade for more passenger space - yours is where I'd go!
Perhaps try some sound deadening in the doors re: McIntosh...

Keiran he did say he didn't want to go aftermarket in it's early life therefore sti pinks would be a good option :)

Welcome to the forums mate! Hope we get to see you at one of our gatherings!
