me complaining again

Postby LIBER8ED » Fri Jan 11, 2008 9:59 pm

i know i seem to do this alot lately, go on a tangent raving like a looking like a luantic, but you all know how much luck i have had with my car lately.. and it just continues..

Dropped it off from the 112500 service the other day, and the other day being Wednesday and as they usually do, they asked me if there was anything wrong. I told them the list, running like crap, barely kicking over while idling, still missing, and still pulsing, even down to the fact that the seatbelt light on my side wasnt working..

Ive put the standard air box back in, and the standard bus mufflers, cause that seems to be what they used a scape goat when something went wrong.

So i picked it up, and they told me that the reason it was missing, and running like a bag of shit, was cause the spark plugs had not been changed since the 50k service.!!!, so yes it was missed at all the services in between then, not to mention when the new motor went in!!

Bit my tongue as he explained to me that it was just missed.... Then before driving off, i notice that my parkers arent working.. a small thing i know, but when i questioned them consultant as to if lights etc are checked he said "yeah they should have been" to which i reply, well i have no parkers.. Oh sorry was the reply, and they were swapped!

Drive from the dealership ( booval ) to the goldy. Just over an hours drive.. the car barely makes it.. back to its popping, missing, surging, basically running like a bag of shit. Got straight back on the blower to the service department, amongst the attitude i received from ol mate on the other end, tells me i cant get it in till the 21st! And yes, im still keeping my cool...

Drive it back and around home for a couple of days, and its gotten worse. Drive it in to them this morning, telling them that i want my car fixed.. my patients has gone and it needs to be done asap.. i convince him to get me in tuesday, (15th) not good enough i say.. it wont make it that far.. ok he said.. monday..

i let him know that its not good enough and that i will be making some phone calls.. and i left.

Drive the car down to southport suby, and Ryan in there was more than helpfull, i explained my situation to him, and told him i was purely after a second opinon on the proceedings. he too was pretty booked out, so he gave me the number for subarus complaint line, cause the shake of his head told me he too was not impressed. He aslo took the computer out to the car, and hooked it up to see if he could work something out, nothing really came up, but he puckered his face up and said yeah somethings not right. reset the idle computer, and that was about all he could do.

Got onto graeme, (cheers by the way ) who put me onto zupps in mt gravatt.. spoke to the gentleman there who was more than helpfull, and with a description of the issue, he apologised and said he couldnt get me in till wednesday, with a loan car.... i know.. after the original monday, but i might actually get a working car out of this mob.

Phoned back up the previous dealer, asked them to print me out an entire listing of my service history, as it has all been with them, and that i will pick it up in the morning, and to cancel my booking, as i am taking my business elsewhere.. again with the attitude, and the lack of intrest in being on the phone.

Now in saying this, ive never been inpolite, never been rude or demanded anything, till today. ive never expressed my dissatisfaction with their service till today, so its not been the way i have been to them that has resulted in this.. At the end of the day, the inconvenience of taking the car nearly an hour away, compared to 20 mins, for the sake of customer service, im happy to do it..

But how long must ones fuse last when not only do i have continuous faults with the car, but get nothing but hassles when i try to get it fixed, and be made to feel as tho, something falling apart in my car, is my fault..

ok rant over, and if you have read this far, thankyou for your patients and time :)

Fark mate... seems like you have gotten the raw end of the deal.

You should get all this to Subaru Australia, make it known not only to the dealership but the company. Missed the spark plugs is totally unacceptable :!:
Mechanics have a check list, they do this kinda work day in day out...

You should email it to Subaru Australia THEN print it out and post it to them too, let them know that your issues are not only causing you grief, but a number of other Subaru owners are following this thread.

AND if you want Subaru Australia CEO's email, let me know.. I sent him an email about my issue previously and his PA responded within hours... advising someone will handle it immediately.

If they can't work out what's wrong with it, they will probably just call this guy: Sergio LaMonaca 0411 094 350. I know of numerous occasions when various Subaru service departments have done exactly this.

Zupps are great, a few years ago they disconnected my wastegate and drove the car using only the restrictive standard exhaust to control boost. Although the boost gauge said 20psi, they claimed it wasn't driven hard.

Eagers (City, Toowong, etc) recently serviced a friend's tuned by STi and gave it back with holes in the oil filter. Luckily he realised before it emptied itself completely and even more thankfully the oil it was soaking in didn't ignite.

Seriously, I'd not let a Subaru service department touch my bloody lawnmower after what I've seen in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. The japs make good cars, but Subaru Aust don't give a rats about their customers.

Just call Serge, I've been taking my Subarus to him for over a decade and reckon you'd be mad to go anywhere else.

Thanks Ric, and trust me Trieu, they will know about it. This one wont slide.. im usually a pretty chilled out person, and dont like stirring things up, but i can only handle so much of being dicked around..

The guy in southport, said subaru dont take to this very lightly.. one their cars not running well for whatever reason, and two, bad customer service..

Obvisouly the way todays market it for our category of car, its pretty close and not that subaru need help, but still im sure they wouldnt appreciate thier customers buying elsewhere due to the customer service skills of staff

LOL! I think you were lucky to get away with it then.

But your right about the cheap ass labour... was talking to one of the junior mechanics and he said apparently their is only one "top dog" so to speak. Brad something or other... and the rest are still doing their apprenticeships.

These dealers need to learn what the term Customer Service means. I am with the other guys I would make Subaru Australia aware of your issue and see what they do.

The last time I took my car into Subaru for a service, they rang me to tell me it was ready. I was having them reset the front springs as they were out and look at a noise in the front suspension as well, which is still there which they blamed on the poly bushes in the swaybar, anyway I regreased these and the noise is still there.

When I go there I was advised that the service guy had damaged my STI front lip spoiler and that they would be replacing it. I go out expecting to see a scratch or two to find it actually split in half across the middle about a metre wide. The guy had obviously hit a gutter parking it in their car park and kept going bending the spoiler under the car breaking it. They really need to take more car with customers cars. Yeh sure OK they replaced it but what about the two hours of my time to drive there and pick it up and then put it back on as I didn't have time when I went to pick it up.

I know where you are coming from re bad service. I have a 97 GT SpecB and it has been to Zupps Southport a couple of times and mate I will never take it back there again.

Last time I went there to get aux point installed the idiots scratched all my trim and used a screwdriver to get the console off etc when they should have used a trim tool. That Ryan at Southport is a dickhead and just said yes we have gone about this the wrong way, we'll have to order you some trim from Japan!

Anyway I went to Bedser Automotive at South Tweed and they were fantastic. Fixed the Zupps stuff up and were really good.

I have a good mate here on the Coast who has a mechanical workshop and has a WRX himself and he services my car beacuse I will not let Zupps touch my car ever again. He is really good and has the workshop at the BP Hoghland Park here on the Coast. He will look after your car as if it was his own.

I have written a letter of complaint about what Zupps did to my car to the managing director of Subaru Australia.

How long have you got? It's a long story.

He did his apprenticeship (in the 80s I think) at John French at Woolloongabba when that was just about the only Subaru dealership in Brisbane.

Then went on to be the service manager and collect awards every year for best technician and service department from Subaru Aust, still with John French.

John (loveliest old bloke you'll ever meet) didn't build a flash new dealership when Subaru decided to change their image, so they refused to renew his franchise even though he had the best service department in the country.

Serge stayed on with John until after he sold the dealership (now just a service centre) and has now recently opened his own workshop.

I give him a plug because he's working on my cars for so long that he's a mate, but you won't find a better mechanic anywhere.
