My New Legacy Wagon!

Just bought it to go on my Tamiya TT-01D to replace my current Silvia body. It comes as a clear shell that I can paint myself. Im thinking either White or WRC blue.

Any suggestions for some mods (for anyone whos into RC)?

First Im thinking of a lighting kit and some new rims, then a more heavy duty eng..i mean battery :p

That's cool, know anywhere that does the modern legacy?

I've been thinking of getting into these drift RC cars, where do you source yours from?

Yer since we saw them at that JDM cruise I wanted one. I bought a tamiya coppermix Silvia tt01d drift rc car from the Perth hobby shop, near Wilson st parking and carnegies in the city.

I havnt been able to find the modern legacy/liberty in 1/10 scale. There was one wagon in 1/24 scale tho. I'll bring it to one of our cruises once I get it setup if u want. Would be cool to mount a go pro camera to it too.

If you don't mind me asking mate, how much did you whole setup cost you/ worth it? I have no idea about these things and no friends in that industry so I don't know if I'm recommended the right stuff or if I'm getting ripped off.

I went with a Tamiya model as it has a very large range of parts etc available and was recommended for beginners and intermediates. There is a large modding scene too due to so many parts and you can upgrade almost everything on it so the overall cost is up to you. The base models range from $150 - $400ish, mine cost me around $300 as I went for the TT01D with Coppermix Silvia body. I just wanted something I could use on occasion without too much fuss and be reliable. Its quite hard to drive in a straight line at high speeds as the slightlest touch of the controller and it wants to drift :p I think its capable of around 60kmph where a nitro powered rc car can probably go about 100kmph.

If you want it just for drifting I would suggest something similar or perhaps a nitro powered model for extra speed :D

If you want one for just pure fun I would probably get a nitro powered off roader with big wheels (JUMPS!!!!!!)

Look at some videos on youtube if you want to see what they are like before buying.

no dont go Nitro. Brushless electric is the way of the future.

once a fortnight a bunch of mates and i go drifting at a big shopping centre up here (multi level concrete carpark) and we have a ball, security dont mind as we dont make that much noise and we dont leave any damage / marks on the floor.

get a TT01 D (silvia / RX7 as they have ajustable parts already) where as the TT01E (WRX / everything else) will need a few more bits to get up to the TT01D level

can get Brushless motors and ECU kits for round 120 by memory and LIPO batterys vary on size. A Brushless motor and decent LIPO battery will dominate over a nitro car in drifting

Haha awesome advice thanks!

Wheres the best place to order stuff online? I like RC drifting coz its like having a mini project car that you can just drop a new engine in for $120 like you said and do up to your hearts content....Its deff the modding bug biting again :p

EBAY is your friend. no hobby shops will stock 'hop-ups' because they simply cannot compete with Ebay

type in TT01 and off you go

Trying to search for a brushless sensored motor, I think this might be on the expensive side but thoughts?

Or maybe this might be a smarter option?

Mini update

I bought all the hop-up parts I could and fitted them all last weekend. Got them all in anodised red. Will put up some pictures next weekend, as I'm hoping that my liberty wagon shell will arrive mid this week. Gotta paint it and make it look the part. Also expecting my brushless motor and LiPo battery too.

Car handles alot better now as there is not as much give with the aluminium parts as there was with the stock plastic. I also replaced the rear diff to a solid unit and the front to a one way diff.

Update with Pics: Recieved my new Lib wagon shell, man was that hard to find got it after 3 tries from purchasing from different places :D, Im going to see if I can paint it Pearl white like my wagon. Going to see about modding the headlights/fog lights/tail lights....doubt they make mini angel eye kits for these hahaha.
Also got my new Brushless motor with new programable servo. Waiting on new battery and some aluminium internal wheel hubs. Still a bit of work to do but its comming along.
