Why would you want the cubby hole lit up if the evc is backlit?

got a call from the tuner after atempting to get the boost up and after it didnt make much power we did a pressure check on the cooler system and it seems i have a 6psi drop from one end to the other, this is putting extra load on the turbo.

i told them to tune it safe which most likely be at what it was before... basicly i pissed more money up the wall and now know that the mrt cooler system is garbage and i need a new system... at least i have a nice boost controller

Oh man that sucks big time...

Damn... Well we how the cooler piping is setup and the actual intercooler itself are all fairly critical regarding flow and pressure drops at these power levels. Even with my cooler a Greddy M spec which is at the budget end and not that well suited to high HP setups is still relatively ok.

At least your expensive boost controller is no longer an electronic brick too ;)

Quoted for truth.

Its the most dreaded phone call that you can get.. 'sorry there is a problem' :( which also means, sorry but its gonna cost you more money to fix something.

Meh ... if that's all that's wrong with it, you should be laughing.

Much better than if they used the wrong pins, valve seats, etc.

As I said pages ago, it was bolted together by people who don't generally build big engines, so if all they got wrong was the intercooler, be happy.

thanks guys, i knew the risks in buying it just didnt think that there would be these issues like how hard is it to do a cooler system, as phat said to me the ebay ones are not that restrictive...

im more pissed off cause it would be boosted for the drags on the weekend, if they were not on i might have just left the car with them to get done

Good luck mate

Sometimes there is great joy in overcoming the shortcomings of some inferior workmanship, and seeing the shit go in the bin.

As has been said the intake piping and cooler are relatively easy \ cheap fix so at least you know where the restriction is and once they're done you will be on your way to making some serious power.

In saying that, 6psi is a pretty heavy pressure drop at sub 30psi boost levels. Goes to show the 'quality' of certain workshops' work or lack thereof.

Get them to pressure test the exhaust while theyre at it so that way you can determine\fix any restrictions there at the same time.

Hope it all goes well mate and let us know how you go down the quarter !

The whole cooler system is going to be replaced, not fucking around with there junk, they got it up to 25 psi and it made no more power compared to 20psi so if it's got 6 psi dro p the thing was running over 30psi and most likely out of its efficentcy range... Still internal gate too
