Does anyone else find their range on the keyless entry below-average?

I get about 3.5-4m, not sure if I'd want it any further than that.

This is an aftermarket keyless entry you're talking about?

Mines been awesome.

I've been able to lock my car from about 15 - 20m away.

Same here, I just tried it in a totally empty carpark, and it worked from 20m away in every direction.

Yep, about 15-20 metres is what I get, although I have noticed that I get different reuslts depending on which way the key is pointing. I assume the key itself acts as an antenna for the transmitter

No, I was referring to the standard built-in key fob.

i seem to get 15-20m as well, but in some places around Canberra have to be standing right next to the car. I have been told that is areas with alot of radio signals (eg. mobile phone towers) or other wireless devices around the range is shortened dramatically.

Tangles I just tested mine.. I think it also depends on line of site possibly?

When in clear open space I got a good 10m, with other cars around I got much less.

Also this may sound weird but when I put the actual key against my head and the distance I get is even more! LOL!!! must be using my head as an aerial :)

What motivated you to try that in the first place?

LOL!! Long time ago a when the "speaking" alarms were the in thing, a mate would sit close by (to his car) and ppl walking close enough would set it off.... he found that if you put the keypad close to your head/neck it actually worked alot further... so I thought I'd give it a go now :)

and Wulah!
