Tricky Aux (3.5mm jack not ipod)

Postby city men » Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:17 am

Alrighty, I own a 2005 my06 subaru liberty 2.0i 4cyl sti tuned, my car is a limited edition soob, it has a stock sound system and face plate (single cd player not 6) and not mcintosh either. I have looked for hours on how/if an aux cable can be installed in my car? any answers would be awesome as apparently no one knows the answer?

Also i have an empty input on the radio? CHR - it doesnt lead to anything, and there is no fuse box reference? however i do not have sat/nav in my car so by connecting an Aux to the sat/nav fuse could it be CHR?

please any help is appreciated :)

cheers
Joe

I think CHR was a socket for an external cd changer. You would need to pull the HU out, and post pics of the rear showing all the sockets available to know what was possible. Do you know if an aux in was an option on your model, that would help.

There are guides online.. First thing you need to do is remove the silver ring around the gear stick (unscrew the gear knob also for a bit of extra room) then centre dash piece that is around the gear lever also. Unplug the cigarette lighter to get this piece out of the way. You should now have access to some screws that hold in place the side trim pieces that go from the cup holders all the way up each side of the stereo to just under the cubby hole. Undo these, and then a gentle but firm pull should see them unclip. Next undo the screws that removing these pieces have revealed and the HU should now pull out. There may not be much room for movement with the stock wiring so unplug your hazards button, stereo loom, HVAC loom & aerial. It should now pull out all the way.

??? Does this mean it is a S or DOHC 2.0L non-turbo? Did you have it tuned by STi or did it come from the factory tbSTi??? Can't say I've ever heard of a 2.0i that has been retuned.
