ok guys, something else has broken...

ok, let me see if i can describe this...

first gear, from a dead stop, ie lights, "stop" sign etc,

taking off, in first gear, something is, i think slipping.. sounds to heavy to be a belt, and i dont think it is the clutch thats slipping, cause well in my expert knowlege or lack there of, i cant smell anything resembling a clutch. i dont know what other information i can give, cause i just dont know.

hill starts are just an embaressment now, and im not liking driving the car at all..

it has been suggested to be my jarrod, (980XXR) that is either a syncro, or a bearing. neither of which i like the sound of..

Has anyone heard of this sort of thing before or have any clue as to what it may be, not that i doubt jarrod, just opening it up to you guys, in case you have heard of it before.

Admittedly, i dont flog the car, i dont sit at the light, rev the tits off it and dump the clutch, and compared to how i have seen some people drive it, so even if i tried to lie to myself, i know that ive done nothing to encourage this.

At the end of the day, you have all heard how many things have gone wrong with this car, ive now decided to park it under trees in storms, park it near bad intersections or something of that nature.. ha ha im sick of it...

at the end of the day, someone else can have this lemon to squeeze, im kinda over it squeezing my wallet...

That sucks big time! The only time I had something similar was when the clutch was on the way out in my old Celica. Youl'd get to a hill and the car would just creep up the slope. I have to admit the only loud noise was the engine revving it's tits off trying to move the car. Whatever it is it sounds expensive.

Yep, I'd take it straight down to Subaru for a new Jarrod, that should fix your problems.

But seriously it sounds as though it may be just the clutch plate (lining) is worn.

hey trendsetters.. apparently is the clutch slipping.... a mate of mine who knows stuff, well more than me, took it for a drive, and had that same dreaded look on his face that the guys had when the pulled the dry dipstck out of my car..

and after some more reasearch, my car is still in warrenty.. wasnt the 100000 km time frame that i thought.. well it doesnt apply to my car anyway..

If it is the clutch it's typically not covered by factory warranty - considered to be normal wear and tear.

Still 110,000ks from a clutch is pretty good.

i mean considering most of my driving has been done on highways.. there hasnt been that much ware and tare on it, and its not like its been to willowbank, or raced, so its not had.. excessive wear... well i guess i can only see what they say, and they will just say like normal that its my fault

I had a 2.5 RX (best Subaru I have ever owned )special edition with 120000 and 4 years old this car had 4 new clutches in it over its life ..Subaru had and still may have a problem with the duel mass clutches.
I think the new model clutch has been changed .My local Subaru work shop seem to know very well of the problem and replaced the clutches without any problems to myself.

When I took my MY07 2.5i in for its 5000 km service (at just over 4000 km), Zupps Subaru in Brisbane asked me whether I'd noticed a squeak in the clutch. I hadn't, but they told me that the clutch would need to be replaced. They've ordered a new one from Japan. They claimed that the new one is a different design.

I don't know what a squeaky clutch sounds like, as opposed to a squeaky clutch pedal.
