Help! McIntosh Aux Adapter Not Working - No Power

Postby fr250t » Mon Jan 09, 2012 2:32 pm

I just tried installing the bellow purchased CENET Aux adapter into my McIntosh, however upon plugging it into the CENET port and then turning on the ignition, there is no power running to the head unit.
I then disonnected the CENET and the head unit starts up....The power light on the unit also does not light up.
Whats going on? I initially thought that due to it coming from America the power compatibility would be different thus causing this issue...?? Any way to rectify this?

Thanks.

May not be compatible with your model of radio? It seems there may be some differences between the various mac head units. Or maybe the adapter is just stuffed.

Yer I am worried it may be a compatibility issue. I emailed the seller, so see what goes down.. Curious if anyone has tried this adaptor before? The fact that the adapters power light doesn't turn on does make me think it may be faulty.

I tried installing a Suzuki (Clarion) xcarlink to my HU the other day and it didn't work. I have a MY08 GTB with a McIntosh stereo PF-2824I.

When i had the xcarlink plugged in the Nav screen would turn on/off/on/off every second and the HU itself would not light up. Unplug it, and everything works perfectly.

SegR, who has successfully installed the same product onto his MY05 works perfectly, so i guess it could be due to the HU itself not allowing these products to work with it anymore??

Yer I have the same stereo model number however no sat nav.
It seems as tho the CENET plug may be earthing the stereo (which is already earthed) causing it to not power up... Dunno I'm no electrician just spitting out possible causes.

Interesting thought. I still have my xcarlink, i haven't returned it yet, so if anyone can confirm that this might be the case and can provide a solution so that the xcarlink doesn't re-earth the HU then it could be a plus for at least 2 forum members :)

I've just bought and installed the same "CLARION EA1251B CENET 3.5MM AUX INPUT ADAPTER MP3 iPOD" from ebay :-(

With mine the Mac Head unit just flashes on and off "SUBARU" ...

Does anyone have any ideas is this is likely to be a compatibility issue or have I fried my head unit ???

P.S.

I haven't pulled it back out yet to see if things might work ok without it plugged in as it's now 12:15 am and I need to go to work in the morning ...

At least the head unit is ok :)
Pulled out the cable - tested and all ok ...
Unless anyone knows what the flashing "SUBARU" message means I guess it's pointing to an incompatible / faulty cable.
I"m going to be contacting the seller to see if they have any ideas and will update the outcome here ..

Seller is refunding and pointed to it as being an incompatibility or a faulty cable ... it's on it's way back ...

edy80y - this is the first step is installing a Parrot MKi9200 as I need an aux input first
