Lug nuts, McGard etc

I'm after a set of security lug nuts to suit enkeis, please.

Not a full set of lug nuts, but I have a set of 4x McGard Ultra lock nuts, brand new. $50 if you want them.

Not sure if they fit Enkeis - PM me for more info if interested.

Do conical seat nuts work with rims that have flat faced nut holes? (seriously)

You could always ring Subaru and get the STI branded nuts. I reckon they look the best with the STI logo on all nuts and all nuts require the special bit to remove. They do cost a bit though and I couldn't find them any cheaper trying to get them in from Japan.

The problem with some nut sets is that only one is the lock nut whilst the others are normal lug nuts. You only have to bash a socket bit over the lock nut to remove it. Easy enough to do if only one nut is the lock nut. I've seen this done before. Just be aware when you go shopping. You'd want all nuts to use the special bit.

I just had a look at the original nuts my STI wheels had and they are conical seat nuts.

Good point, my paranoia about nicked wheels just went ballistic! :shock:

So possibly segr's 4 lock nuts (conical seats) would do the trick along with my stock GT-B nutz?
Answer: that's the config the vendor was using! Correct me if I'm wrong...

Looks like a solution whilst I save up for a set of STI McGards

If you want to go all the way then something like 4x spline drive nuts and 1x mcgard ultra lock nut or similar per wheel, plus a car alarm with tilt sensor is probably what you want, but you have to consider how much effort someone is really going to put into stealing your wheels.

You also have to consider how inconvenient it is going to be for you and your mechanic to get the wheels off when necessary and where you are going to hide the lock and spline sockets.

For me, one or the other (spline drives or lock nuts) is good enough as a deterrent. If someone has time and really wants the wheels they can still get them off anyway - just search youtube!

I think OTR in Springvale stock the McGuard spline drive set with lock nuts. Give them a call.

Thanks Bruce...now I also might start looking for McGard nuts!
