Ways to access 12v without splicing wires

Hey guys,

Looking for a way to get 12v power in the dash area. I see alot that you guys comment on using the cig lighter but does that involve splicing factory wires? I'm wondering if theres a way to do it without splicing anything.

Fuse box, with a fuse tap.

run new wires from the battery, with a switch, or tap it off a relay/fuse to switch it on and off.

In the centre console theres a few wires that are 12V constant and are unused at the moment. Just tap into one of those.

Thanks mihai thats exactly what im after. Just to confirm do you mean centre console the arm rest or centre console behind the stereo? Seems people have different definitions.

Under the arm rest mate. In my facelift there are spare cables going into a connector under there. However they do not connect to anything on the other side of the connector.

Presuming the pre-facelift has the same connector under there, then the wires you need are: Yellow with Silver stripes for 12V on the ACC circuit and Black with Silver stripes for ground. Let me know if you want it to be a constant 12V (even when car is off) or on only when the lights are on.

**EDIT. The connector in my car is used to connect to the cigarette lighter in the centre console. However there are many spare wires free. If you do not have a cigarette lighter inside your centre console, then you may not have this connector under there.

I do have a cig lighter there mihai so i will definately jump in there and have a look when i get back from my travels. Cheers for all that info.

Yeah I've been having the same dramas trying to find a true 12v under the dash for my new gauges. Tried tapping IGN2 and others off the fuse box but it still seems to go to ground at "Start" momentarily (or at least a major voltage drop). Followed all the wiring diagrams for the fuse box with no luck, so it's either steering column somewhere or new wire from the battery, I'm thinking.....

When the car cranks everything grounds to give the starter as much power as it can get.
