"HELP" Sat nav on the move mod(wiring Diffrent)

I have a MY08 lib GT-B with The kenwood sat nav. My car was built on the 30 dec 07 and my sat nav was installed at the dealership. When i tryed to do the mod from this link http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/instructions-unlock-nav-while-motion-63678.html?t=63678&highlight=video+nav for sat nav on the move, i discovered my wiring loom to the unit under the seat is completedly different as per the pic below

The normal spot to earth is filled with a green wire, the bottom row goes white, green, orange, yellow, black, pink, with just a red on the top row. Any thoughts? can i do the mod with this unit? also does anyone know what the red wire marked ACC is for?

The red wire marked ACC is a switched 12V source.

When you turn your ignition to ACC, that wire will provide 12V to whatever is connected to it.

ACC is a switched 12V+, generally wired to the ignition.

It looks like an aftermarket wiring harness has been used to me, I doubt the factory loom would have a loose ACC cable. I dare say the actual plug is a universal type plug for kenwood headunits or something along those lines.

It cant be after market. i got the car brand new It had no sat nav when i first test drove it. It was fitted at the dealer. The car i was getting was identical but with sat nav. but subaru double sold it and i was last in so lost out. it would be a month wait for another one so they put sat nav in the demo (only had 20km on it) and i got it for less.

I'm not saying the sat nav is aftermarket, I'm saying the wiring harness is possible aftermarket. The wiring harness looks like a wiring harness for an aftermarket head unit. i.e. the harness plugs into the back of a head unit and joins to the factory wiring via another harness. There is no need for an unused ACC circuit at the sat nav. It wouldn't be the first time a dealership has done something dodgy.

That plug goes back into the same loom the seat electrics and the other sat nav plugs are in. it is taped up and has subaru part numbers and labels all over it. Does anyone else have a plug like this in ther car?

According to the facelift wiring diagram, you want to connect a pin on the back of the monitor to ground to bypass the handbrake.

The connector you are looking for is the i119 connector and you want pin 13 (it is a grey wire). Located on the rear of the monitor.

Below is the schematic which may be helpful. I had a look at the Nav Control module wiring and nothing connects to the handbrake.

Looking at both the facelift and prefacelift schematics, that pin 13 connector is the handbrake pin for both. However, in the prefacelift that pin interconnects to the nav control module (as can be seen below).

I think what Phil was saying is correct, the wiring loom they have used does not appear to be a factory loom as the wiring colours on the connector pictured are not in the wiring diagram at all.

I've grounded the handbrake wire on my sat nav and whilst it keeps the Video In active it does not allow full access to sat nav options on the move. These still grey out once you start driving.

Did you check to see if you have grounded it by following the steps in the other thread?

You can check your work by going to the NAV's main menu (main menu->Nav setup->Nav info->Vehicle Signal)

If parking brake says ON when your handbrake is down then you have done it correctly, however if it says off when the handbrake is down then you have probably grounded an incorrect pin.

I'm not too familiar with the SatNav but I'm doing my best with the info provided and wiring diagrams so yeah.

Haven't checked the menu but i did the right wire. Beforehand my a/v in would only work with handbrake up. As soon as it went down the screen would switch from my vid to the map.

Since doing the wire my vid stays on-screen regardless of handbrake position.

Do you remember what colour and where the cable that you grounded was? Maybe I can find it in the wiring diagram. Might be for something else.

Hmm. You say that your video input works now? Is it possible that you have grounded the Video In on this connector?

that diagram is for the Kenwood sat nav and stereo combo. Mine is the Kenwood sat nav that goes with the mcintosh stereo.
I did ground the aux in enable on the mcintosh but this is unrelated to the handbrake wire on the back of my Kenwood screen. For my screen it is the grey pin7 wire on one of the 2 screen plugs.

I have earthed the grey wire going to the back of the nav but all that did was allow my reverse camera to work not allow nav wilst moving. wierd i know but seems like it cant be done on the units fitted at the dealership

What, no nav at all while driving ?

I lose many nav functions when i start moving but nav itself keeps working, and again, those functions dropping out is completely unrelated to the handbrake.

Also, the fact that your rear camera only works with handbrake on sounds like the cam has been connected to the Video In jack rather than Camera In.
