hi guys,
obviously im new to these forums :)

just a few things about me:

Real name is Andrew, Stixy is my nickname. I am a full time window tinter and have been just over a year.
Im 19 years old living in Adelaide. I recently bought a 2008 2.5i liberty from elbens. 55k on the clock, so its pretty new :)

The first week of having the car the kid across the road decided to reverse into my front drivers side bumper,
i wanted to kill him. Was $1400 to fix. but the crash repaires did a really good job
(better then i thought)
______________
All i wish to do for now is to place a double din stereo and speakers in. Maybe some mags later

just a few quick questions if u guys dont mind or i post somewhere else..?

Is japanparts.com the only place to get a fascia/ac panel from(omg $400! )?

for the double din stereo do u need a wiring harness? or do u need to hard wire it. (guy at autobarn said need to hard wire)
and out of 10 how hard is it to install the stereo (looks easy with a harness on youtube)
______________

And of course a photo of my new car. this is the only photo i have

Image

Cheers, Stixy:)

G'day,

The Autobarn bloke is an idiot.. You can buy a harness made by Aerpro from Autobarn, go in and ask for a Subaru one to suit your car. Then it's as simple as soldering the Aerpro Subaru harness to the harness you get with the HU. Colors are at an industry standard these days so it's just a matter of matching colors up. Make sure you insulate each wire seperately with heatshrink.

The advantage with using the Aerpro harness is that it connects straight to your cars harness without the need to chop up the factory harness in your car - makes it simpler to return to stock if ever you want to sell the car without your HU.

The install is fairly simple. I did mine myself and it was the first stereo I had installed. Make sure you have a soldering iron, solder & heatshrink. The hardest part is figuring out the correct order in which to pull off all the trim pieces.

Welcome StixY
Great choice of car. :good: I hope the guy across the road paid for the repairs!
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!

Yes, so long as you don't have the McIntosh stereo, it's the same pinout as Forester and Impreza.

Welcome mate and nice ride!

I come down NE rd pretty much every day of the week. I'm either on a bike or in a Charcoal GT (depending on the weather), so I'll yell out if I see you. Possibly have a tinting job for you too down the track...

Good luck!

Welcome Andrew. The trim removal is easy - even I can do it! There are a few walk throughs on this forum but post up any questions if you run into any troubles.

Most trims nowadays all just pull off, but if it doesn't come off with medium force it's fastened down somewhere.
