Real Car Clubs?

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Real Car Clubs?

Postby WhiteGTB » Sat Dec 08, 2007 10:05 pm

Ok, I guess this is following on from the "Shannons" topic about Real Car Clubs Vs Internet Forums (Clubs).

I am interested to know what the difference is between the two.

Anyone care to clarify?

I honestly thought this is like a real car club.... things like meets, gatherings, photo shoots, mods etc.... etc....

Well for starters, I think they mean an "incorporated club", i.e. with a committee, president etc. and paid membership.
Also, most "Real" clubs are affiliated with CAMS.
I did look into CAMS affiliation about 18 months ago, but you need to be an incorporated club first, and there is an annual charge.
However, it does mean that you get CAMS insurance cover on official organised events :)

From the form to affiliate with CAMS, the annual charges are:

1-40 members (Code: AFFL-2008-1) $ 264
41-100 members (Code: AFFL-2008-2) $ 462
101-200 members (Code: AFFL-2008-3) $ 660
201+ members (Code: AFFL-2008-4) $ 958

Trieu
Before I found this forum I went and joined here
www.wrx.org.au/
costs 80bucks to join and 20a year, this got me thru the shannons interrogation, mind you the ad does say you dont have to be a member of a car club, just have "a wee bit of passion"
I looked at spending the bucks to save on a good policy so was worth it

the biggest benefit is for the organisers of any runs to have insurance should any thing go wrong & people want to hold the organisers of the outing responsible.
Don't Laugh I was the president of the NSW Gemini Club for about 6 years.
& we had to go through all that crap of being incorporated etc, we didn't bother getting the cams affiliation because of the cost to each member. when realistically there weren't many guys who actually needed it.
Then it becomes restrictive on what you can & cant do & need to get the outing passed by the CAMS people prior etc, to much stuffin round.
