CEL after spark plug change?

Hi dudes,

Just changed out the sparkplugs and changed my oil + filter. The car chucked the shits and threw a CEL when i turned the car back on?

I had to remove the batterey during the process, is this the likely reason for it having a fit? Once i stopped and started the car a few times it went away, went for a drive and the car felt smooth and crisp and it didnt show up the CEL again.

ECU whining about batterey removal?

Did you unplug the AFM on the drivers side? possibly was not reconnected properly at first. the battery won't throw a code, but its possible it had a bad connection and the charging rate was too low or too high for a second.

Probably something like that, been driving 2 whole days with no more hassles.

Although i kinda feel like low down as gotten a bit doughy since the spark plug change. Felt somewhat smoother in higher RPM ?

Try an ECU reset?

Igniting quicker at high rpm from the clean plugs.

Just did the ECU reset, so ill see how it runs in the morning.

Without a tune, will the ECU "learn" the modifications itself and adjust to suit or does it adjust itself in defence of the mods?

It will run rich to compensate for extra airflow if you have any intake/exhaust mods.

It will still have the tune, just would have forgotten whatever it's learnt since the tune.

As far as i know, the ECU is untouched, however the previous owner told me he paid lots for a ECUwreck tune back in 07 when he bought it.

Didnt have any mods. He then told me on his last service during ownership Subaru wiped it off the ECU. Very unsure about it, but why would you lie about getting a tune then say someone wiped it off? You wouldnt mention the wiping of it at all!
