Poor Show Subaru - Pirelli Rosso Tyres

I've just bought my 2nd new subaru after 8 years (last one was in 1999), had a nissan and then a merc in between, and I noticed the lack of customer service just a few days later. Enough so that I was actually asking someone if it was worth writing a letter to Inchcape.

My last Suby, I never really had many dealings with Customer service as I took it elsewhere for servicing, and I might do so with the Lib as well once it gets closer to warranty expiry (or once it turns 1), but do you guys reckon it's worth compiling a list of disgruntled Subaru customers, I mean sure we have a fair few on here, and offering them some constructive criticism?

On another topic related matter, have any other tb STI owners noticed any unusual wear on the Rosso's etc? mine's only done 1600 k's, so it's too soon too tell. I've just bumped them upto 40psi today (dealers had it 31 front, 30 rear when i picked it up!!).

I run 39-40psi in mine, 37k still plenty of tread.

I got a slice in the wall of my lovely stickly Pirellis on my 2007 Liberty Sti. When i took it to Subaru, they said there are none in the country. This was confirmed by Beaurepaires... Very Poor Show Subaru Australia. I think if you import a car into Australia, you have an obligation to organised for the OE tyres to also be imported to Australia. Any ideas folks?

What ended up happening about this?
I've just come back from Subaru Glen Waverly, and they have four Rossos in stock and spare, for about $440 each, fitted.
(They actually have eight, but four are already spoken for.)

I'm up to subey #5 now and I bought it coz I like the drive.

If all I wanted was good service I could buy a beemer or a merc. But what they sell for $60K is overpriced south-african built shopping trolleys. I'd be paying $110K to match the GT for performance and handling. And anyway, service day is twice a year. And try getting your beemer serviced for the price of a current model Lib service.

I've had pretty reasonable service from AMR in Sydney for the past 9 years. Had to kick em sometimes but that's life. Try buying a ford or a holden. It's 10 times worse.

Maybe you should buy a toyota or a Samsung Fridge on wheels next time.

I don't think you can generalise about Suby service, from what I've read on here, GW Suby seem pretty good! I've got a couple of mates who are happy with fountain gate. I got a good resolution from Docklands, albeit having to escalate things, but I mean, you have issues like that with virtually all customer service nowadays - tried ringing your telco lately??

I've owned a E39 5 series bm, C-Class merc, currently a volvo xc70 (wife's) - out of all of them the best service I've had has been Volvo, excellent, even compared to Merc/BM. Subaru are probably on par or slightly better than some of the other Japanese dealers (my personal cars have been Mitsu vr4, Honda Teg VTiR, MY99 WRX, S15 200SX, Merc C, wife has had an outback, Mazda6, then the ovlov), at the end of the day it's a person thing. If the person @ the dealer is just not interested, well thats that then.

People are entitled to have a whinge after spending 60 odd I guess Everyone's experience if obviously different though, some people are more tolerant than others.

Ric, I guess for future reference, and to bring some resolution to this thread, it would be good if we can get some sort of comment from Subaru GW if Rosso's are going to be in stock on a regular basis, or does the owner have to pre-order then, eg, 4 weeks in advance or something? Just a thought

Don't get me wrong. I bought my second Suby (Spec. B) because I like the drive too.

I don't believe that you should have to buy a European car to get the good service either.

What I don't like is when companies put on a professional front and they're nothing but. EG this thread! Are you following?

Toyota or a Samsung Fridge? Technically we're all driving part of a Toyota now and I didn't even know that Samsung made fridges. I do like their Jap made LCDs though. Maybe next time you have fun in your car try it 'round a "Learn to Drive for Kids" centre
