iva-w502e steering control interface module?? ideas???

Postby Brunsy3.0 » Thu Nov 10, 2011 9:10 pm

Hey all

I have a alpine Iva-w502e and need a steering wheel interface module for it hard wired in, does anyone know what model numberand brand these are??

and possibly a wiring diagram for them to be wired, and placement of these wires?

(also while some of you are looking and may have the answer, are there any safe and reasonably cheap places on the net to get dynamat xtreme and stinger 0G wiring??)

Cheers

If you are after Stinger 0 gauge wiring, I'd hit up www.darvex.com They are in the states and are cheaper for stinger products (including shipping) than buying local. Thats if you can wait a few weeks.

They also sell Stinger Roadkill (same stuff as Dynamatt however it is slightly better as its 1.7 times heavier than Dynamatt).

In terms of the steering wheel interface, you can use the PAC SWI-JACK, SWI-X, or SWI-RC. I havn't actually tried these because I don't have steering wheel controls but they connect to the steering wheel control wire and you program each button into these modules.

Info can be found here:
PAC SWI-X : http://www.pac-audio.com/SWI/SWIAppGuide.aspx?appguideid=498&swiModel=Legacy&swiYear=2007&swiMake=Subaru&swiProduct=SWI-X&swiRadioManu=Alpine&swiOptions=Radio%20%28with%20or%20without%20NAV%29

PAC SWI-RC: http://www.pac-audio.com/SWI/SWIAppGuide.aspx?appguideid=498&swiModel=Legacy&swiYear=2007&swiMake=Subaru&swiProduct=SWI-RC&swiRadioManu=Alpine&swiOptions=Radio%20%28with%20or%20without%20NAV%29

PAC SWI-JACK: http://www.pac-audio.com/SWI/SWIAppGuide.aspx?appguideid=498&swiModel=Legacy&swiYear=2007&swiMake=Subaru&swiProduct=SWI-JACK&swiRadioManu=Alpine&swiOptions=Radio%20%28with%20or%20without%20NAV%29

I think someone on the forum had another PAC SWI product (don't remember the exact model) but he had a bit of difficulty finding the right cable to take the signal from, and I'm not 100% sure but he may have also said that the wiring on the PAC sites above was out. Don't quote me on that though as I'm not 100% sure of what he said.

Cheers

Michael

Cheers Michael great info

only reason ive gone for the xtreme instead of the roadkill is ive used it in the past and was quite happy with the results, im planning on applying it myself, seems pretty straight forward, clean very well and apply. i got quoted a fortune to have it installed

havent looked at the steering wheel interface control modules you posted yet though will have to do some research into it and find the one best to fit the Liberty

Yep - the PAC audio wiring is incorrect (well, at least for the 3.0 SpecB w/McIntosh anyway)

I managed to find the right ones with a lot of messing around though!

See the link in my sig - it contains pics/directions how to install the PAC product :)

The wiring may or maynot have changed with the facelift. So yeah, just look into it.

The MY07 Workshop manuals are available online, is that helpful? It has a lot of wiring diagrams.

I have both the 03-07 manual AND the 08-09 manual, there are subtle differences in the wireing, if you need it let us know and I'll throw it up on rapid share. its a good 70mb download for the later series manual :-O

did you get a model which does NOT use the infa-red singal? and hard wires directly into the steering wheel controls with programming also?

i believe the pac swi-jack, and pac swi-rc are hard wired and programmed and the pac swi-x is infa-red?

which model have you used and was it easy enough to program it all after you found all the necessary wires?
