painting my eyelids

i recently recieved said eyelids (carbon fibre) and i love the look but i want to paint them to fit in with the rest of the car.
what are the steps i need to take? going to get some obsidian black in a can some time in the next few days.
will i need some sort of primer and a clear coat? and how many coats of the black should i do and wait how long?

i know, many Q's...

Go to spray painter, pay cash and get it done properly for $40-$50 for a decent finish IMO. That's what I did
