Sorry to bump this thread, but I can't really seem to find exactly what I'm after.

I've had my Liberty for only a couple of days and I'm looking at my options for an iPod input. I'd preferably like to charge it aswell (as per the OP). What I was thinking was to buy the AUX input from Subaru (they quoted $175 fitted) and then get another plug that goes from the power outlet to the bottom of the iPod to charge the thing. Has anyone found an alternative that's not too expensive? $175 fitted or $120 for the cable seems like a fair bit.

Did you guys end up buying the cable in the first link and soldering it to the unit? I don't really feel comfortable doing that.

Also, I hope this is the right section for my car. It's a MY08 2.5 with SatNav and the SatNav has bluetooth. I tried playing a DVD the other day though and it didn't work (that's another story!)

Any help appreciated.

I havn't bought it yet, if you look furthur down the list theres a post of what I have done so far with my install, my problem is I work full time and have a family with a single income, so it is a weekend here and there's work as fund become available and getting the quality of audio up is always my first priority. As for the DVD's not playing, does your unit have teh "DVD Video" logo on the front, if it does then it should work... you may have to do the parking brake mod if you want it to work whilst the vehicle is in motion, there is a thread on this board with a how to on doing that.

Yes.. that is line level sub out plus aux video in and out (ie, extra monitors in the read headrests for the kids!).. That is a Genuine Subaru part no too, perhaps not in AUS, but it is Subaru...

So what model stereos are compatible with this part H0010AG100?

Do you have a part number or pic of the Jaycar panel part you are using?

I hit up Suby Aust last week asking about the difference between the H6210AG000 and H6210AG100K cables.
The AG100K is for the cars that came with the DVD Video playing headunit. They have A/V In rather than just the 3.5mm Audio In. The AG000 is suitable for all other 07+ cars with the Aux button.

I was almost going to buy the AG000 but instead stopped off at Jaycar on Friday, grabbed some components and cable and made my own. I just hard wired the Aux enable pin to GND rather than trying to have it switch with the 3.5mm jack as per the factory cable. Pins to connect to rear of H/U are HP-1260 from Jaycar.

Whilst I had the Mc out I managed to find an RCA connector on the back of my Nav unit so threw a lead on that for a later look. Just tried my video cam on it and hey presto, Video-In for my nav screen. Only enabled with the handbrake on (easy fix hopefully) and as mentioned above, NTSC. A converter is probably the best way to go but isn't much of a priority.

Awesome cheers for the info on the pin type, I have been trying to figure out for AGES what they were!

Handbrake fix is basic, let me know if you don't have the info already and I will point you in the right direction.

Just had a Nokia N97 and N8 playing vids through the screen and McIntosh. Thankfully I found my old N95 3.5mm A/V cable and the phones are able to output NTSC.
Gave Nokia Maps a crack on the Nav screen which was kinda funny.

Just been reading up, seems I need to ground pin7 (greyish light blue wire) of the nav screen plug , correct ?
Would be cool but can't really see myself making use of the camera input.

Stopped into Jaycar again today and grabbed a panel mount RCA. Will add that to the blank I fitted the 3.5mm Aux-In socket to.
Also grabbed a '3.5 male to 2x RCA female' lead. This gives me the choice of 3.5mm or RCA for the Mc Aux-in.
Think the kids will be the only ones making use of it

Do you have the Kenwood SATNAV?, if so,

Yep you need to ground the wire in this diagram in the first post on the radio side, the wire labed in the diagram "park brake"

viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3505

Works like a charm, can play DVD's and all whilst driving (obviously only for passengers haha)

To confirm you have grounded it you need to access the hidden diag menu per this link

Thanks for that.

Dvd video disc ?
I've already tried a movie in the glovebox player and all I got was a message saying ' this is not a map disc'.

Ahh, you have a different one that in the MY08 2.5i (SATNAV Edition)

The 2.5i in the MY08 had a limited edtion run where it had an integrated DVD/SatNav/Bluetooth in the unit itself, so no separate Satnav unit under the seat or DVD player in the glovebox.

The unit itself has two slots, 1 behind a flip down cover (in pic with the DVD label on it) for the DVD map disc, and a slot above for DVD's and CD's.

Here is what the unit looks like.

I have the SatNav edition 2.5 and I've been thinking more about the iPod setup for my car. Couldn't I get a bluetooth adapter for the iPod which would then connect to the bluetooth in the car? Or, is the bluetooth in the car just for phones?

It still doesn't solve the charging of the iPod though, so I think I'll end up getting the AUX from Subaru with an iPod charger that plugs into the 12V.

So am i correct in thinking that there are two different types of Satnav units? One that plays DVD's and one that doesn't. Both have the ability to have an RCA input? How does one tell the difference between both the units?

Yep correct.

The one pictured above plays DVD's and have Bluetooth connectivity for a phone.

The other SatNav in the same year had the map drive in the glovebox.

I dont know what it looks like though.

Just as i thought. The vehicle i'm looking at has the other model. Screen and surround looks the same but the audio unit is the standard Macintosh. Bummer.

I've got the sat nav and McIntosh combo too.

Still simple though, just run McIntosh audio aux in and nav screen video in to the console box. That's what i'm doing. Then use a media player for the source material.

Only catch is the player needs to be able to output NTSC, which my Nokias can :-)

And i would always choose the Mc stereo over the standard one any day.
