WTB - MY07/08 GT Spec B/STI

G'day all..

New around these parts, but have been active in other Subaru forums a couple of years back.

Looking to get back to a Subaru after my playing with a VW Polo GTI and current XR6T. Been hunting around Car Sales a fair bit of late and what I am after hardly seems to come up.

What I am looking for -

MY07/08 GT Spec B/STI (sedan, but pref a wagon)
Manual
<120k kms
At a dealer (CBF trying to sell my XR private, rather just trade it in)
Victorian based (not sure what the go is with trading a car in interstate)
<$36k

I know there is a few cars listed, but they are that low on the ground at dealers hence me looking at a few different models.

I think that is going to make it almost impossible. Anyone who had one of these to sell isn't going to want to accept the very low trade-in price a dealer would offer them.

+1 I took the new MY11 WRX STI for a test drive on the weekend and out of curiosity asked what they would offer for my car as a trade-in. $20,000

Yeah, impossible indeed.

$20k for a 07 Tuned by STI Lib?? Seems way too low! I got offered $14k for my XR6T, which was $2k less than what I thought. Just working out pricing on a couple of MY07 GT Spec B sedan's in manual at the moment.

You could always find someone with a dealer's license and arrange to buy a private car through them.

Sure, you'd have to cover GST, the statutory warranty and make it worth their while, but it could be done.

Edit - I might look at private cars now, looking at options to offload the XR6 to open the private market up for myself. Way too limited using dealers only.

In the end I signed for a MY07 Lib GT Spec B yesterday. I would have loved to have been able to go for a TbSTi but with two kids, etc the head took over. LOL

was about to say the same thing! Good that you have joined the GT group. Great car anyway you didn't miss out anything if you are just driving daily with kids. They would appreciate more when they grow older and by the time you would have been driving a posche
