Sorry, I'll elaborate. The bushes from subaru for about 40 dollars I think and it's good as new.

mine needed replacing around 130 or so too. Drove it for a long time without any issues - just the occasional missed shift. From the time I was under mine 8 weeks ago, I think you'll need to drop the box a fair bit (but not completely out) to get to the top bushes which are the ones you need to replace for side to side slop. I didn't have access to the required facilities (hoist, jack) so couldn't get to it myself

I'll say this. You'll know why when the time comes.

Buy a cheap 14mm open ender and be prepared to shorten it.

yeah, that would help things a lot. For me it was getting bolt out of the bush which stopped things - the trans tunnel kept getting in the way and I didn't have the gear to drop the box any further that I had already

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I've ordered an Sti Shortshifter and was reading the comment that "the STI 6spd mechanism doesnt include all the pivot bushes that wear out".

Does anyone have any info on which other bushes could do with replacing? My car has 150,000km, so even though the 6MT is great ,it does feel pretty floppy.

Any tips on which usually wear out would be great. I can look up Part#s, but if you could point me towards a Part diagram (eg on opposedforces.com), that'd be great.
