Ah I didn't see that, don't get rid of the cs9s they look great! 235 is illegal step up from 215 so the two tyre places say in SA.

E-mail them also as not all their available items are on the web site. Also check out Ultrex Performance (on this forum under 'Commercial Vendors' and also their web sites) as IMO they have some pretty sexy wheel styles which I might have considered had I seen them before I bought the GR-A's.

225 is generally fine on 7-8" rims depending on the individual tyre and rim combo. See this page for general guidelines.

In Queensland and probably most other states, to be legal (if you give a crap) your rolling diameter must deviate by no more than +15mm/-26mm from the original manufacture rim/tyre combo. 215/45r17 to 225/40r18 is [theoretically] a 11.9mm increase in diameter. I'd have personally preferred to run 235/40r18 on a 8-8.5" rim (5mm too high on the diameter increase size, but I'd live with the risk until the tyres wore down by 5mm :-)) but couldn't find any of the right offset in a style I liked. (I like the Rota Gravel but it's only floating around in mildly crazy sizes and I'm not keen on rolling the guards).

Thanks Hamish :), love my CS9's too, but they don't clear brembo's :(, and I'm going brembo's when I put the tdo5 18g on early next year. Solutions you can think of?

As long as the rolling diameter is within 4% compared to oem there shouldnt be an issue with the tyre width as long as it doesnt foul on any part.

My Gen2 Legacy came with 16s and 205's standard. I was running 18's with 225's. Within 4% and passed here and QLD. Pretty sure SA is the same.

I sold my Berlina to a guy in SA. It had 20's with 235's on it. Oem was 16's with 215's IIRC. Passed in SA first time.

Alcons are around $3,000. Think that's for front n rear calipers? Not bad :). They better than brembo's?

Quite likely but you'll be limited by your tyres' traction - not your braking power - in just about any driving condition on the road and most on the track...

Very true, this is why I was thinking brembo's with 18x8 235mm rota gravels.
