Hello All,
I've been on the research and investigation run into my car's pinging issues.....and have found the following:
After springy motors dyno day I noticed whilst re installing back the perrin intercooler that the turbo housing flange hole that the fabricator(HP/F) made is bigger in diameter compared to the intercooler side...from the top of my head it's about 5-7mm diameter difference........WTF!

( emailed HP/F about the problem with little returned response ) .....
1/ I couldn't use a flange gasket as it doesn't line up properly on either side ( ended up using silicon and paper gasket )
2/ With the outer diameter bigger on the turbo side there is a restriction as it enters through the intercooler side ( as air rushes through it basically hits a wall )
3/ At this point in time I want to break and throw something against the wall farken!....I'm no mechanic but what are the chances this is affecting flow? efficiency? pinging? etc....
At this stage I could modify the perrin intercooler and open her up......but I'm not going to as I believe this intercooler is best left alone and should go to a new home......
Now your all probably thinking * his going FMIC isnt he?....*

ahahahahaha FARK! YES........and YES....I know I said I wouldn't but I am now......and I realize that I've modified the GTX turbo inlet for nothing now! ( i can hear phat gt saying, I told you so...you had to take the hard way....farkhead )
Hi Justin.....remember there is a hard way and an easy way of doing what your planning on doing and i can see your planning on doing it the hard way the hard way is offen whats seen as the easest way and more offen than not ends up being the hardest and the most costly way. what i have learnt over many years the easy way of doing things alway looks like the hardest way but this is not alway seen to be the easest way for most people in the car modifying industrie ,hence way most peoples bill are so high ......... i hope that makes some sort of sence
* sigh*
So this is what I've got lined up:
http://www.garage7.com.au/home/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=92&product_id=1440=0&option=com_virtuemart&=53I've just purchased a HDI GT2 FMIC intercooler kit for $570.00 shipped via hong kong ( AUD $ is very strong, couldn't say no to it ) should arrive in the next 5-10 days hopefully...
With the help of scott I will be modifying the intercooler kit to:
1/ avoid losing foglights and front crush bar
2/ custom adapter flange pipe to suite the farked up turbo inlet
3/ retune of course.......considering my options on this
4/ attaching digital temp sensor unit
5/ cusco water cooling spray kit and cusco controller ( hmmm.....we will see )
6/ coating / painting intercooler kit black for stealth look
I think that covers most of my plans.......looking quite forward to doing this

let's hope I can back it up with some good end results
Cheers Guys!
