Amp install on Factory Kenwood HU with LOC

Hello all,

I am new to this forum so I hope I am posting correctly.

I own a 2009 2.5i Gen4 and I am over the crappy stock sound system so I will be upgrading it in 2 stages. I'm not going all out as I have a limited budget but I do want bang for buck.

I am still in planning stages so I was hoping I could get some help.

Step 1
Initially I want to install an amp and sub that I have left over from my last car and do some extensive deadening in doors and boot. I'm hoping the deadening will improve the stock speakers and will be a good preparation for when I can eventually upgrade the speakers to something nice. I will be using a Line Out Converter to get the RCA signal to my amp.

My amp requires a remote cable running from the back of the HU to the amp to tell it when to turn off and onn.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIND THE REMOTE CABLE ON THE BACK OF THE STOCK KENWOOD 6 STACKER HEAD UNIT???

I am running a Fusion PP-AM200010 to power a 12" Kicker CVR

Step 2
Eventually I will upgrade the speakers in the front to some nice 6" splits and some el cheapo's 6" 2 ways in the back. these will be powered by a reasonable 4 channel amp.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

If the HU doesnt have a remote 12V out, just use the accessories 12V.

I did this on a 2 previous cars I wanted to keep the factory HU in.

I wasn't fussed with having the rem hooked up to the HU and at the time didn't want to go to the hassle of removing it so I just tapped into the cigarette lighter inside the centre console storage compartment. Obviously this means whenever your car is on your amp is running but that didn't bother me my stereo would generally be on too.

It will be enabled all the time the car is on, but it wont be drawing current as its not processing any signal.

Do you already have your LOC? I have a quality PAC line out converter sitting on the shelf if your interested.

Thanks for your help guys. I tried searching and didn't find anything but I wasn't really sure what to search for.

I decided to use an amp that allows speaker level in.

So I don't need a remote cable running from the HU I can just tap into the ciggy liter 12v power source in the center console and run that to the remote input on my amp?

If you read through the walkthrough posted above, im pretty sure i mentioned to take the remote from there.

Also, the stock hu does not have a remote output...
