Pressing LCA bushes

Postby seanmau5 » Tue Oct 11, 2011 8:14 pm

So I'm looking for some assistance.

My uncle & I installed new suspension on Sunday & was going to do my anti lift kit too but unfortunately we didn't have the right 'bits'

Anyhow, I called Wholesale Suspension in Penrith & they want to charge $295 for install/alignment & won't just press them in for me.. Did I read somewhere that people do cash jobs just for pressing in/out etc Pedders???

If you take the control arms off yourself you could probably get someone to do it for $30.

Yep that's exactly what I want to do, the mob I called today wouldn't just press them for me. Removed them on Sunday but unfortunately couldn't get the job done.. I'll try Pedders or something..

Whiteline anti lift kit.. I'd ask Phat and pay him for it but I'll be at my uncle's place in Croydon Park so am looking for options close to his at the moment.

could ask phat to do the whole install for you... :) he wouldnt charge you much and save you the run around with going to your uncles, taking your car apart, driving to get bushes pressed in and out, driving back to uncles.

but then again... :) I am doing this on saturday haha, although the place I am getting to press them in for me is walking distance so much easier.

It was satisfying driving home on Sunday afternoon after a hard days work

Before I started my current job that has a press, I removed my LCA's and took them to Pedders with the new bushes. They pressed out the old and pressed in the new for $50.

Now I do it myself in 10 minutes for free. :D

Just found this. For the stock mounts you can easily hacksaw them out. Remove blade, slide it through mount, reattach to hacksaw. Cut through and them hammer out bush with a punch and hammer.

New bush is as simple as cleaning up the leading edges, a little grease and a bench vice or a decent hammer and a block of steel or something to tap it in. Im far too tight to buy a press :)
