Springs Question for 2006 2.5 Wagon

Postby grander » Sun Oct 02, 2011 11:41 am

Hey guys,

had a good search around here for info... found a few things, but didnt really answer my question.

I'm looking to lower the ride height of my 2006 2.5 wagon by a small amount (20mm).

To be honest it's not about the handling, more about the look.... therefore I dont have the need/budget for full coilover config.

Will a straight swap with the STI springs and stock shocks give me the result I'm after ??

Looking for a good cost effective option.
I know that you get what you pay for as I've modified cars within an inch of their life before... but I dont want a rough ride on this daily driver or spend too much cash.

Sedan I think.. They are $165 per pair, so $330 for 4 plus installation

I know there's not alot of difference between the spring rates for sedan to wagons, sorta wanted to stay with wagon springs, don't want my ass on the floor when I load her up :P

So let me catch up here... you're talking Lovell springs that straight swap with my stock springs and retain my stock shocks ?

Are they KYB shocks that are stock in Liberty's ?

Yes exactly.. I emailed someone about it and the response was that they are compatible with both KYB & Bilstein shocks.. Liberty's were released with KYB shocks, Subaru started to use the Bilsteins in the B Spec Liberty & the STI Liberty (EDIT - STI Liberty's were upgraded B Specs so they had the Bilstein shocks and had STI pink springs put on them)

Am I right though in saying though, if you put Spec B Bilstein's onto a 2.5i you are going to get ride height issues in the front due to the Bilsteins being designed for the heavier load of the GT/3RB, and not the lighter 2.5i?

I'm very much considering the Lovell springs due to the great value, but also considering getting the Spec B Bilsteins wheelpower are selling for the handling, but don't want to come into height issues at the same time.

Brand new Bilsteins from Claremont Wheelpower
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SUBARU-LIBER ... 2a14a170b3

Tein S-Techs
I got mine for (price removed) - you will need to email Michael (PHAT GT) forumparts@gmail.com for a quote

So you're looking at about $980

I got quoted $165 + GST for a pair of Lovels so $330 + GST for all four.
